Today was the first work day for our team. While our project goal at the orphanage is to lay bricks and build a gate, we are waiting for the tools needed to accomplish that task. In the meantime, we started clearing the brush away from the existing fence so a new fence can be built in the near future. The team worked hard even in the hot hot weather and drank over two igloos of water today, The highlight of today was when an important government official, plus 30-40 other people, came to the orphanage to meet the team and hear them sing. Yesterday, we got to meet the orphans and play games with them! Abby M., Ellie G., and Emily B. taught the kids a few games that they played in Africa last year; the kids had so much fun and the team did as well. In other news, we were able to retrieve Katie D.’s duffel bag this afternoon! Praise God! She is thrilled to have her things back again!
Hannah A. – Isaiah 41:10-“Fear thou not for I am with thee, be not dismayed for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness”. From two weeks of Boot Camp straight to the field, it’s safe to say the entire team is tired. Yet I am content and happy; I feel blessed to be here to serve God. I am confident that He will sustain us through the thick and thin, because He has already worked miracles for all of us to get here. And all of the hard work is worth it– simply because of the way the children from the orphanage faces light up when we play games with them and treat them with love. It is a blessing and a privilege to be be here, and I am so excited to continue to serve The Lord.
Emma Lea T. – Being at TMI has shown me me lots of stuff. One is that God is my strength and I can do anything through Christ. Without Him I would not have made it this far. I have learned how to completely rely on The Lord. God has shown Himself to me through creation and being on the other side of the world, seeing that there is really more than just my hometown is just amazing. I have grown so much in my walk with Christ, I just pray it will stay this way when I get back home because we tend to get back in the swing of things and forget about our summer and fall away again. I don’t want it to just be a summer walk; I have surrendered it all to him this summer
