Dates: January 12–31, 2014
Experience the joy of ministry in Malawi, “The Warm Heart of Africa”. Following a day of orientation in Merritt Island, Florida, you travel to Orlando International Airport to begin your flight across the Atlantic to Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, via Washington D.C. and Brussels, Belgium. A two-hour truck ride will take you from the airport to the main Teen Missions base in Malawi located in Chipoka, on the shores of Lake Malawi. After a day to get reorganized, you travel six hours to our base in Mangochi. One of your projects is to construct benches and desks for the children and adults to use when they attend the MSSM Sunday school. Sunday school will be running while you are there, and you will be able to work alongside our national BMW students as they run the program. Enjoy going fishing with the local men in their canoes to provide fish for the orphans. If you are not a fisherman, there are ample opportunities to minister to the orphans at the nearby Rescue Unit. You can assist the facilitators with daily medical treatments, as well as play with and read to the orphans. You will be traveling to some of the same places that David Livingstone visited when he explored the country. There is also a trip planned to Senga Bay where you can rest on the beach and barter for wood carvings, paintings, material and drums before returning to the U.S.
