Petersen SG Staff Newsletter

Dear Family and Friends,

Changes at Boot Camp…  It had never happened before in my 30 consecutive summers at the Lord’s Boot Camp. Our team hosted the Indonesia team while the arrival of their head leaders was delayed in Canada. Sometimes we don’t like the idea of change and I wasn’t sure how the two teams would do so close together but we complimented each other nicely and truly enjoyed each other’s company. “All things work together for good to them that Love God…” Rom 8:28 Then, during our second week of training, another unprecedented ‘change’ took place, when the  Scotland team (sent from the Early Boot Camp) was sent back to the states after one week due to visa / immigration issues. Our team was commissioned from Boot Camp several days early and off we went to Indiana, together with the 23 members and leaders of the Scotland team. Again, our worries and IMG_1013fears were put to rest when we saw how God had placed us together for a common goal to reach the lost at the county fairs in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky through the help of our host ministry TTT Youth Ministries. Both teams and their leaders worked well together and it became a greater blessing than we had thought possible! Rom 8:28 again proved true.

With our joined forces and by the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, we surveyed 3000 people in just over three weeks and saw over 183 people say ‘Yes’ to Jesus. To God be the Glory. A book could not contain all the stories we experienced while sharing from God’s Word about Jesus and His death and resurrection. We handed out thousands of tracts, hundreds of wordless books and bracelets and over 7,000 cups of free ice water. The team also performed dramas, music, puppets and more to engage the crowds. Please pray with us for the many seeds that were planted and that those who committed to Christ would grow and remain faithful to the Lord and to regular fellowship in their local churches.

IMG_1031Here are some testimonies from our team members’ web reports (our complete mission trip reports can be found on Teen Missions’ website listed below.):

Coming to Teen Missions was a time I definitely got stretched, going to the fairs and talking to people who walked by was intimidating. But Christ helped me be bold and I was able to talk to people, and even lead a few to Christ.  – Luke

The Lord has shown me the things in my life that I need to change. I’m now more confident to share the good news. Being out of my comfort zone has changed me. – Skylar

I have gotten to do so much that I wouldn’t of done at home, so I have been able to share God with lots of people and been able to lead a couple of people to God, I’ve also been making the most awesome friends. – Amber

Hey Peeps! This summer was amazing. We had an awesome team. God taught me a lot. He taught me how to forgive, and to learn how to love. I can’t wait to come home and share what Christ has done with me and through me. – Mickie

This summer I learned how to open up and be comfortable with other people. And I’ve also been getting really close with God during devotions. So it’s just been an awesome experience.  – Shamira

This summer God has really shown me my strengths and my weaknesses. Putting Jesus as Lord of my life has really strengthened my relationship with Him.  – Ben

Our fall deputation trip was the longest ever, over 6,400 miles through Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. We praise the Lord for safety and that our old car made it all the way. Thank you for praying for us! We appreciate all that shared their churches, schools, homes, food and fellowship along the way as we shared about Teen Missions. We apologize that we couldn’t make more stops along the way this year.

We are now back in Florida. Timothy and Faith are homeschooling while Gay continues her TMI work from home and in the IMG_1035kitchen. Steve is back in the IT Department and also helps planning for the Video and Promotions Departments in addition to teaching Doctrine at the Bible School this term.

Again, thank you to all who prayed for, supported, or wrote us over the past few weeks. We are privileged to be here serving the Lord because of your faithfulness.
