Redika and I were happily married on December 15, 2013! The wedding went very smoothly and we thank the Teen Missions International staff and Bible, Missionary & Work (BMW) Training Center students that helped make it great. We couldn’t have done it without you and your help is appreciated very much. Married life is great and God has given me a wonderful life partner and helper in ministry. We look forward to a lifetime of ministry together and the many places that God will take us and the many hearts that will be touched for Jesus. We had a little time to ourselves and then we were off to Medan, Indonesia for a brief honeymoon at a beautiful lake resort on our way to visiting Redika’s family, relatives and tribe for two weeks. We enjoyed many great meals and had great fellowship together. Her family is very nice and warmly welcomed me as a new part of their family. Her family is mostly Christian and I had the opportunity to witness to some neighborhood children and read them some verses from the Bible.
Indonesia is a VERY beautiful country. It gets a lot of rain so the landscape is very green and in Medan there are rice fields everywhere. The people are very nice, friendly, and hospitable. It is the largest Muslim country in the world (87%) and the Muslims have a lot of influence here so witnessing to them has to be done VERY carefully and as the Lord leads and opens doors.
Many thanks to all who have prayed for us. Your prayers are very helpful and necessary for us to be effective and victorious in our ministry because the “adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour” (1 Peter 5:8) and would love nothing more than to make us ineffective in our ministry. Thank you also to the many people who generously gave us wedding gifts and have supported us in our ministry so far. It has really helped us with our ministry. Your sacrifice and kindness are appreciated very much and will not be forgotten. Thank you for sowing into the Kingdom and being obedient to the Lord’s leading. Your faithfulness enables us to continue ministering.
We had the privilege and blessing of helping the BMW students from Tangerang, Indonesia do a children’s ministry Christmas program for a local church in Jakarta. We had a wonderful time ministering to the 40 kids who came and the students did a great job with the program. I did my beatboxing (making drum noises with my mouth) for them and they loved it!
We will be in Borneo by mid-January, 2014 helping with the Motorcycle Sunday School Mission (MSSM) program. We plan to stay serving there through this next summer while we wait for Redika’s visa to be approved for her to come to the States. MSSM is a ministry that uses motorbikes to travel from village to village in remote and hard to reach places teaching many children how to read, write and memorize scripture. Because it is not a “church” service, but a Sunday school many of the Muslim children come and some get saved! Praise be to the LORD for this great fruit. Redika and I will be helping to supply them with the materials and lessons that the Circuit Riders need to conduct the lessons and she will be translating them from Indonesian to English. I will be helping to finish some construction at the Borneo BMW base as well as helping the Circuit Riders learn more English. We also plan to help with the MSSM motorbike team of teenagers that is coming to Borneo from the States this next summer. While I do miss all of you in the US, at the same time it is exciting to be in a new country experiencing new things and ministering in new places and expanding God’s Kingdom.
