Fast, Ryan & Erin Newsletter (Spring 2014)

Fast Staff NewsletterDear Friends & Family-

What a wonderful season of ministry we have enjoyed over the winter and early springtime.  Here are a few of the highlights:

Student On Mission For God:

What if every student we spend time with caught the vision that Jesus cast out to his disciples?

What if they lived out an Acts 1:8 lifestyle to go and make more disciples?

Over the past year God has laid the proceeding questions upon our hearts. With this in mind, we have been working in conjunction with an annual missions conference in the Portland metro area, Mission ConneXion, to add a youth focused component to it. On January 17-18th, we were able to launch the first annual “Student ConneXion: Students on Mission for God.” What an amazing event it was! Students attending the mission conference were given an option to attend seminars taught by a series of nationally known youth missions speakers, receive thoughtful challenges and be introduced to a variety of mission organizations that they can go on mission for Jesus NOW (like Teen Missions)! The largest seminar had nearly 70 people in attendance and overall we had close to 200 students attend! Please pray for us, as we look forward to doing this event again next year.

Weekend Camping Trip to Death Valley Over Spring Break

Local Ministry Opportunities Continue to Increase:

Thanks in part to many of the contacts made via the Mission ConneXion conference, God has provided additional churches and Christian schools in the Portland area that have requested us to come and share about Teen Missions. A real highlight for Ryan was an invitation to go and share with the youth group at Crossroads Community Church in Vancouver, WA. This was the church that Ryan grew up in, that first commissioned him, and sent him out on a summer mission trip. Needless to say, sharing with the over 170 youth at this church brought back a lot of good memories and Ryan was truly blessed to challenge the students from this church to go and make disciples!

Spring Break in Southern California

Most recently, we finished a speaking tour down at schools in the LA/San Diego area. We were able to schedule this trip during Micah’s Spring Break so the whole family was able to join Dad. During this trip, Ryan was able to speak eight different times at five Christian schools and a Christian club on a public school campus, to nearly 1,000 students. In addition to planting a lot of seeds, we have also seen some fruit from this trip as at least two students from the schools we visited have signed up for mission trips! We are praying that the Lord will continue to move in the hearts of young people we have shared with this year and to take steps of faith and come on a summer mission trip with Teen Missions.

Preparing for a Family Outing

2 Parents & 3 Kids means we’re outnumbered!

It has truly been a delightful time to be a parent.  At 14 months old, Zeke has officially progressed into the toddler stage where he is walking, exploring and getting into everything! Abigail is a very busy girly-girl attending preschool, watching Sesame Street, learning her ABC’s, painting her fingernails and wearing pretty dresses as often as mom will allow! Micah keeps busy with school and Cub Scouts; he enjoys playing soccer, and has turned into quite the proficient swimmer. We have especially been encouraged, as we have seen his heart change more and more towards God and we are witnessing his walk with God really beginning to take hold. Raising our three children and co-laboring together for the Lord right now is
truly a delight.

Just around the corner

Micah’s Cub Scout Woodworking Project

It is hard to believe that our next summer mission trip is just around the corner. We are praying and looking forward to meeting our team of 17 teenagers who will be traveling to Mongolia and South Korea this year. While we are in Mongolia, we will begin to build some of the buildings for a Bible school that Teen Missions is establishing and in South Korea we will be teaching English. We would ask you to please join us in prayer for the teens, that they would be prepared spiritually for the battles they are going to encounter on the mission field this summer and for the necessary financial and spiritual support to be supplied for them to come on the trip.

We are praising the Lord that we have raised nearly all of our expenses for the kids this summer. We still need $300 for the kids’ travel expenses to Mongolia/South Korea and $550 for travel to Florida. Please pray for this need and if the Lord leads you to help us with this need, please fill out the coupon below and submit it with your gift to Teen Missions.

Our Current Needs

On a financial level, this calendar year has been difficult for us as our support has dropped off by nearly a 1/3. We know that God will provide all our needs and have found comfort in the following verses:

Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart… But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. (2 Corinthians 4:1,7)”

For those of you who continue to give regularly, thank you so much! For others who have hit some hard times financially too, thank you so much for your faithful support over the years and know that you are in our prayers. For those of you who receive this letter and are currently not a part of our financial support team, we would ask you to prayerfully consider joining with us as we reach out to teens and challenge them to become tomorrow’s missionary today.

Thank you again for all of your prayers & support!!

The Fasts
