Greetings From The DR Team!

Today is Thursday, June 26th, which means nine more days of Boot Camp! Our team is coming together through the BC classes. The 19 DR Nfavorite class seems to be block laying…you may have some future masons coming home to you in August.;)  Although we are enjoying classes, we won’t be disappointed to trade them out for our work and evangelism projects in the DR!  Two nights ago, we were “honored” with the Piggy Award. Our team joyfully cleaned the bathrooms though and, believe it or not, I think it was actually good for us.  BC heat and mosquitos continue to get easier every day. The Lord is faithfully providing us with all we need, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Emily Gruver – “This has been the single most difficult week of my life, but I have to say that it has also been one of the best. I have been humbled greatly by God’s patience and mercy and love love for me.  His grace in such simple ways, like helping me find my socks in the AM after desperately praying that I’d find one pair.  Comforting me when I break down by giving me such caring team members.  I can feel Him working in me.  I know that I am not perfect, but I know I have a perfect God.”
Elizabeth Rouseau – “This is my eighth day of BC. Sure it’s hot and hard, but God will get us through. I have fallen into the Slough every day, except the first. I have noticed every time that I have had a cheerful spirit about me, smiling as I cross the “big puddle”. I know that when I smile, it’s God smiling through me to the rest of my team to encourage them.”
Sammy Cruz – “My time so far at BC has consisted of God, work and more God. I am enjoying my time here and the only thing I wish I could do more is send more letters.  God’s presence is here and I love it!  Miss you guys back home!”
Lauren Clark – “My favorite part is probably the OC. The Slough is fairly easy if you learn little tricks…I haven’t learned any yet. The hardest parts for me are the Wall, which is 12 ft. high, and the Red Sea. I am afraid of heights! Getting ready in the AM is also tough because we get up at 5:30 and have 5 minutes or so to get in the circle for count off. So these are my favorite and hardest parts of BC.  It is fun and I am loving it!”
Christina Allen – “BC has been a blast so far. I’ve gotten to meet so many new people from all over the country. I even have three people from Canada on my team! Two days ago, we started classes and I’ve learned so much. Music class is my favorite. It is so much fun to learn music and praise the Lord! Some parts of BC are a challenge.  I find myself relying on the Lord for so many things because I know I can’t do this by myself. Still, I can’t wait to see what else I get to learn here in BC. Thank you everyone who has supported me on my trip. I couldn’t have gotten here without you. Last, to my family, I miss you and am praying for you everyday. Blessings!”

  1. Keep up the good work Chris!!!

  2. Hello Tina,

I’m so proud of you and the teams as you face one of the many challenges that come into your lives. Boot Camp sounds so educational and interesting; it affords an opportunity to bond with team members and work together for the common good. Overcoming can give much joy as you tackle each chore (the same goes for when you return home). Okay, no more preaching (smile)

Gods love, mercy and grace makes it so much easier to accomplish His work. Remember God is always with you and He can be trusted to help you as He is preparing you for your participation and time in DC.

My prayers and God’s blessings are with you.

    Lots of Love,
