Hello From The Philippines Team

It’s another day at the Lord’s Boot Camp and we are still praising the Lord. These past three days it has cooled down a little but it is still 14026 Philippines Teamhumid. On Monday it rained very hard but that did not bother our team because we felt like it was God preparing us for when we go to the Philippines. The mosquitoes are still bad at Boot Camp, but we are almost used to them by now. The classes that the kids are taking are going very well. They are taking a drama class, concrete and block laying, digging, evangelism, music, and the Former Team members are taking an FTM class. These kids are truly great to watch during their Drama Class and today the teacher even told them that they are the first group who have gotten their parts down so fast. It is amazing to see how hard they work and how much they pay attention so that they can get things right the first time.
We got to swim in the pool because Monday night they won Brainstorming. All of the kids had fun swimming and when their swimming time was done, they all said that this was the first time that they look at getting to swim in a pool as a goal and not an every day thing. One thing that was really amazing to see is Conner Henderson and Jeshua Moore having a swimming race which they both had won because they both got a tie. Each and everyone of these kids’ talents is starting to show and everyone’s talents are very amazing.
We are doing great in music class and they all came together as a team and chose three songs that they would like to do for presentations when we go to the Philippines. The songs that they chose are so beautiful and I think that when they start to sing them to the people in the Philippines, a lot of lives will be touched. The three songs that they chose are Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord, Beautiful One, and Build Your Kingdom Here.
It is so wonderful to see the team coming together and spending a lot of time with each other and getting to know each other better. It sometimes is hard to get to know people when you have electronics with you because you glue yourself to your computers or cell phones but what is great about Teen Missions is that since you can not have your cell phones or computers with you. It gives you a great chance to get to know people you have never met before. These kids are finding out that they have many differences from each other but they have a lot in common with each other. They are making each other feel like they belong on the team and our team unity has grown and it will keep growing.
We hope that God keeps building us up as a team and that we can encourage others when they are struggling. We are all very excited to be going to the Philippines and we even started our ten-day countdown. Thank you to everyone who is praying for our team and we want to encourage all of you to not only pray for our team but to pray for all of the teams that are getting ready to go overseas and the teams that are already overseas. We are all excited to serve God in the Philippines and we can not wait to see how God uses each and everyone of us.
Boot Camp has been challenging, but there are still so many fun parts about it. The Olympics was fun and our team got to bond a lot. Drinking out  of a model size clean pig troff was fun. We all encouraged each other pretty well, which is great! Also carrying my teammate in the wheelbarrow was hilarious and she had such a good attitude when she fell out. I’m learning a lot here and joking around with my teammates is a good relief from all the hard work that we do. Singing worship songs are also a lot of fun and it has built our relationships with God. I miss all of you back home and I love all of you. Please keep on praying for my teammates and as we continue to learn more. – Ahrissa Mendenhall
I can’t wait to see what the Lord does through our team in the Philippines! As I hope that God will show me more of Himself and His plan for my life. I pray that God will use our team to be bringers of His word to many people! The Lord is good, and I can’t wait to see Him work through us.  –William Nabholz
Devotions to me is a time where I can talk to someone I trust without being scared that I’ll be judged and knowing that I can be myself and think and say what’s on my mind. God’s been teaching me to trust in Him and not be scared. A few days ago I was talking to a guy on my team about how scared I was to go climb the Wall on the Obstacle Course. He said a verse (Isaiah 41:10) to me about trusting God. I read the verse over and over a few times and now I have decided to trust God and climb the Wall. Ever since I made that choice, it has seemed that God has been helping me through everything. Devotions means a lot to me and I hope that it will forever effect my walk with God.  –Emma Maples

  1. Thank you so much for these updates. I am Cherith Crawley’s “Nana” and I am so thankful for the update on the Phillipines team. I am praying daily for them. I can’t wait to be able to talk to Cherith and hear how the Lord used her and the team. Praying for each team member to stretch and grow spiritually and for God’s hand of protection to be on you all.
