The South Africa team is over halfway done with our training at Boot Camp. On Saturday started our drama and puppets classes after completing our music and phonics classes. The team came up with some great children’s games to help teach phonics such as alphabet Duck, Duck, Goose and Consonant/Vowel Red Light, Green Light. We are excited to use these games as opportunities arise in South Africa!
Sunday was different from our normal routine. In the morning we still ran the OC, but instead of classes, we had church under the Big Top tent and then the afternoon was team time. We spent most of the afternoon back at our tent sites working on cleaning out our tents, changing tent partners, and working on our memory verses. Please pray for our team that would be able to memorize our verses since several are struggling with this part of our training. A Bible verse that has been encouraging to us as we press on with memorization is Joshua 1:8. “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. then you will be prosperous and successful.”
One of the team’s favorite verses so far (and we even put it on the back of our team shirts) is Ezekiel 36:23. “I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will now that I am the Lord, declares the Sovereign Lord, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes.” Please continue to pray for us as we finish our training here in Florida and prepare to leave at the end of the week!
When I first came to Boot Camp, my first thought was, “Why in the world would God bring me to this place?!” While I have been here I have had to learn how to put my trust in Him like never before. God has provided great friends and leaders for me to get to know. I am looking forward to what God has in store for my team and I! – Madeline S.
Boot Camp has been an experience like no other. I have gone to an extremely low point and have also felt on top of the world. Being around my team really lifts my spirits. We are a big family and are always there for each other. I am so excted to see what this summer has in store for us. Africa, here we come! A FEW MORE DAYS! I love you to the moon and back mom! -Elizabeth V.
The Lord’s Boot Camp is a great place to get rid of all distractions and just refocus on God and all He has blessed me with. It is so easy to forget what He has done and here is a great place to strengthen your relationship with God. -Elise H.
At Boot Camp I have a hard time keeping up with people, and sometimes I get discouraged. God has been my best friend. I’ve talked to Him the whole time. I’m really growing in devos. He’s been showing me that I need Him more and more. -Savannah R.
