Australia — Teen Trip

First Boot Camp  June 6—July 26Australia

Head “Down Under” to Queensland, Australia, for a summer of serving the Lord. After training at the Lord’s Boot Camp, you will bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to Brisbane via Los Angeles. From the airport, you will travel two hours by bus to Teen Missions Australia Bible, Missionary & Work Training Center located in Tewantin. You will continue construction on a multipurpose building and other projects such as roofing, painting and block work. Enjoy watching kangaroos and wallabies in the open field as you work. Any animals you don’t see on the property, you may see on a visit to the world-famous Australia Zoo, founded by the former Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. Opportunities abound for you to share in public schools and local churches using drama, music, puppets and testimonies. Housing will be in dorms; showers are available. Laundry will be done using buckets. A visit to Noosa Heads Beach, a South Pacific surfer’s paradise, will provide an afternoon of relaxation and shopping.

  1. Hi Beth, My daughter, Claire, is registered for the Australia team this summer. Can you tell me about the leadership team for this trip? Also, what is the policy for commissioning night? Are parents allowed to attend? We live in Florida. Will there be an opportunity for us to see/talk to our daughter during that evening? Also, are there any required or recommended vaccinations for this trip? Thanks, Kay Andrus

    • Kay, We do not give out the names of the leaders as it can change. However, you will have the opportunity to meet them when you bring your daughter to Boot Camp. Parents may visit three times, including Commissioning. You may arrive after noon, but realize that the team will be packing out and that is the priority. Depending on how quickly they pack out, there should be plenty of time to visit. You can shadow her as she packs, etc. If her team is not on the first “wave” of leaving for the airport, you can hang around for their team party. If they are on the first wave, you could go to the airport with the team. However, sometimes that can make it harder on you and her. You may bring a “goody bag” for after Commissioning and it can contain snacks or drinks that she may like. That is optional. As far as vaccinations, please check with her physician. Nothing is required.
