Zambia Foot Washing — Teen Trip

First Boot Camp  June 6—July 26Zambia

Make a difference in the lives of AIDS orphans as you wash their feet and give them what will most likely be their very first pair of shoes and socks at AIDS Orphans Rescue Units. Following Boot Camp, you will bus to Orlando International Airport for a flight to Lusaka, Zambia via New York City, Paris, France and Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. You then bus five hours to Ndola, home of the Teen Missions Bible, Missionary & Work Training Center in Zambia. You will travel to various Rescue Unit locations to hold foot washing clinics. You will also have the opportunity to teach Sunday school classes and play games with the orphans. Practical work projects at the Units may include building a bunk house for Motorcycle Sunday School Mission Circuit Riders. Housing will be in tents; bathing and laundry will be done using buckets. A trip is planned to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, discovered by David Livingstone in 1855. You will enjoy viewing these beautiful waterfalls, known as the “Smoke that Thunders”. Wood carvings, batiks, drums and jewelry are just a few of the souvenirs available to purchase before returning home.

Project Expense: $4690 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee

  1. Hi, I’m going on this trip but I have a neighbor who is a dentist and was wondering if there was a need for toothbrushes. If so, I can bring them down.

  2. Hi, I’m interested on going on the Zambia team in the summer of 2016. i don’t know how/when to join or apply for it.. Help:)

    • Melanie, The 2016 teams will be online later this summer. You can register at that time, but we will not be printing packets until late September.

  3. I’m going on the Zambia team. Should I pack according to the working teams or evangelistic teams?

  4. Hi I was interested also in this mission trip but what if you can’t fund it what are some of the things I could do to get the money or at least some.

    • Miyah, You can send out the prayer cards and letters that we provide. You can also solicit from businesses, do garage sales, car washes, etc.

    • Yea I would just pray. IT WORKS! Took me ONE MONTH!
      remember if it’s God’s will it’s God’s bill.

  5. Hi,
I’ve been reading through the comments, and it looks like the team is full for girls… I was wondering if any spots had been cancelled? I’ve been very interested to go to Zambia, and if I can’t go this year, I’d love to try for the next.

    • Holly, We still have a couple of girl spots left on Zambia.

      • Awesome, thanks! When is the deadline to register?

        • Holly, The sooner you register the better. We are already having to reduce seats with the airlines which will limit how many can go on a specific team.

          • Thanks so much for letting me know! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to go this year… It was too last minute for me to be able to earn the money, and I had already committed to something else over the summer. I would love to go next year, though, if it’s God’s will!

  6. Hello I’m Josh I’m really interested in this missionary trip is it to late to register?

  7. Are there any spots left still?

  8. Are there still spots for girls open?

  9. Hi–Just wondering if the Zambia trip is still open?
    Thank you!

  10. I am interested on taking a trip to Zambia This or next summer. I have been to Ethiopia before and am interested. I was also wondering if the foot washing clinic was literal footwashing, or metaphorical (like for what Jesus did for the diciples. Thanks!

    • Dylan, You will be literally washing the feet of the orphans.

      • I need an address fast on where to send shoes. Our ladies group at church has been collecting shoes for the foot washing. We need to get the shoes mailed out ASAP, in order for them to reach their destination. I had a Florida address but misplaced it . Can you help?

  11. Hi! I went on the Honduras 2014 trip and signed up for this one 2 days after I got home this summer! I am SO excited to go but the money is not coming in very quickly. Please pray that I will get all my funding! Miss Beth, I am SO looking forward to this trip. Do you know who the leaders will be? I heard from a former team-mate of mine that Cheyanne is one of them. Is that true?

    Thank you!

    • Kassie, We do not publicly give out the names of the leaders as that can change. Keep working on that support! He is able!!!!

  12. Hello, I am signed up for the trip and I created a page on Facebook for the team members to get to know each other before the trip. It is called; “TMI Zambia 2015 Team Members”

  13. I have not received a monthly financial report from TMI, yet. I know several sponsors have signed up to give online. Do you know when I should expect it?

  14. I created a Facebook group for the parents of teens going on this trip and my daughter created a group for the team members

    Parents Group:

    Team Member Group:

  15. I have 2 questions
    1. How much communication via letter is expected?
    2. I have heard that foot washing teams use most of their duffel space/weight carrying shoes. Is this true? It’s not an issue for me I’d just like to be prepared
    Thank you! 🙂

  16. My name is Daniela and I want to know if there is still room for the Zambia trip and how can I pay for the trip if I don’t have all the money?

    • Daniela, Yes, there is still room. Almost everyone raises their support—very few are able to pay for it themselves. We will provide prayer cards and letters for you to send out to help you raise your support.

  17. I registered today with Zambia as my first choice, and I was wondering if there is still room on the team.

  18. Does this team still have spots left?

  19. I registered for for this team, but when I went to register it looked as if I was giving a donation. Did I do it correctly? Is it going toward registration or a donation?

  20. Hi, I would love to reserve a spot, but I am not positive ‘ll be able to go. Is it possible for me to register just to save a spot, even if I am not completely sure about the logistics yet?

    Thank you so much!

    • Maddie, As long as your registration is complete (and you have paid the registration fee), a spot will be reserved for you.

  21. Is there still room?

  22. Will TMI cancel the trip because of the Ebola?

    • Kailey, There is not Ebola in Zambia or any of the other countries we are going to this summer (except the US :)). Seriously, we are monitoring the situation closely and will not hesitate to cancel a team if it is deemed unsafe.

  23. I registered but I didn’t send my registration fee a couple weeks after I registered. And I am not sure if I did it correctly and I won’t be able to go on the trip because I sent the fee too late. I don’t know if I should register again?

    • Autumn, Once we receive your fee, we will get you registered. Please call our office this morning to check on it (321-453-0350).

  24. Can you tell me when the prayer cards/ trip info arrive?

  25. Is there still room? I really want to do this but I don’t have the money yet. 🙁

    • Autumn, You can register now and start raising your support. Once you register, we provide prayer cards and letters to help you raise your support.

  26. Would this team be considered a work team or an evangelistic team? My mom was wondering because this summer will be my first TMI trip. She went in ’91 and built a kids look out tower.

  27. FYI ~ On the list of mission trips the dates don’t reflect what is written on the individual trip pages. This trip for example says it ends on July 41st (weird date too).

You can delete this comment. It’s just to let you know. 🙂

    • Stephanie, Unfortunately, the geeks are on their way overseas. Go with the what is written on the individual trip pages. Sorry!!!!
