Nepal Children’s Home — Teen Trip

Second  Boot Camp — June 27—August 13Nepal

Nestled in the shadow of the Himalayas and Mount Everest, Kathmandu is the ultimate adventure destination. After training at the Lord’s Boot Camp, you will bus to the Orlando International Airport and fly to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, via Miami, Florida and Doha, Qatar. You will experience the culture of this city as you pass water buffalo, temples and open markets. Your team project is located at Mendies Haven Children’s Home, founded by Mummy Mendies in 1967. The property is on a high hill overlooking the city of Kathmandu. The children there will greet your team as you arrive and will love playing with you every day when they return from school. Your projects will be to assist with repairs to the security wall, a water conservation project and construction and maintenance around the property. Housing will be in dorms; showers are available. Laundry will be done using buckets. While in Nepal, you will have the opportunity to take an elephant safari. Shopping in Kathmandu is an experience like no other as you meander through the open street markets and barter for yak blankets, pashmina scarves, gurkha knives and yeti souvenirs.

Project Expense: $4990 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee

  1. Parents of the 2015 Nepal team – I have set up a facebook page for parents of the team so we can share news and get to know each other a little while our kids are gone. If you would like to join us, just follow this link.

  2. Kathryn Davidhizar

My daughter is going on the Nepal trip. Her transportation home has changed. Who should I contact regarding her revised information?

    • Kathryn, You can email us that information ([email protected]).

  3. Shannon and Vikki Bobb have a spring 2015 newsletter on the TMI website that talks about our trip this summer and has pictures of kids at Mendies Haven! It’s very cool to see what the kids look like! They are adorable! Check it out if you’re interested!! 🙂

  4. Has Mendies Haven given TMI any new info on how they are doing?

  5. If we dont have a request materials form, how should we put in requests for more?

  6. Kathryn Davidhizar

Will today’s earthquake and predictions of more to come, affect the upcoming trip there? Did the orphanage incur damage from the 2nd quake?

    • Kathryn, As of now, we are still planning on sending the team. We did not hear from Medies Haven yesterday, but we should hear from them this week.

  7. I was just wondering if the earthquake today has effected the trip and or the orphanage.

  8. Are we able to bring our own snacks to boot camp with us?

  9. Did the earthquake in Nepal effect the children’s home? And what would we do to help others that were affected by it?

    • Jack, The orphanage had minimal damage. We plan on helping at the orphanage and do various projects in the neighborhood. We cannot tell you exactly as what is needed today may not be needed two months from now.

  10. I’m not sure if my previous comment got submitted. I was just wondering if there are any girl spots left? I know it is pretty late to sign up, but Nepal would be my first choice. Anyways, if there aren’t any openings, what trips are open?

    • Sarah, Nepal has been full for quite some time. There are several possibilities. Go ahead and register and put down four different choices. We should be able to get you on one of those choices. I cannot give you specific teams as most are “full” on paper, but we can make phone calls to those who have not sent in any money and we might get a cancellation that way.

  11. Sorry, just to clarify you’ll still send the team to Nepal, the country won’t change. However, the team project in Nepal might be changed. Correct?

    • Dylan, Yes. Right now they will still work at the orphanage, but the work project may be expanded to help those outside the orphanage also.

  12. Hey I was wondering if there are any girl spots open for this trip. If not, what trips are open for girls?

  13. What are the rough dimensions of the carry on and duffle

  14. I am wondering about the recent earthquake in Kathmandu and how it will affect the trip? Will the purpose of the trip change?

  15. Beth,

Is the Nepal trip open to 17 year old boys still?

  16. Is there still space for me to go on this trip? I have a heart for Nepal and the Nepalese people. I’ve spent so much time praying and I know Nepal is in my lane.

  17. Hi my name is Luisa, 15, and I’m from Brazil and I want go in this trip. Is it possible? If yes, What can I do for this happen? thanks

    • Luisa, You would need to get visas for the US and Nepal and raise the needed support.

      • I already have a visa to the United States how can I get the visa to Nepal ? And what I do next?

        • Luisa, You will need to contact the Nepal Embassy in Brazil. You will be in transit in Qatar, so I am not sure if you will need a visa for there. You will need to check that out. Right now, Nepal is full to girls.

  18. Who are the leaders of this team

  19. Is there still that last spot for a girl
How many people can go on a trip

    • Sarah, Right now it is full to girls. However, if you register and put a second choice and request to be put on the waiting list (start raising your support), then we can switch you when an girl spot opens up.

  20. is there still room for girls on the team?

  21. Can you please switch Rachel dean to Nepal children’s home from Russia sports? Thank you so much!

  22. I am 16 and my parents want me to attend with someone I know, which would more than likely be my youth group leader. Is it possible for both of us to go? And if we do, when will we need to register by?

    • Emily, If your youth group leader is going as a leader, then he/she needs to contact Leader Placement immediately. That would not be a problem for you to go together as long as there is room on the team.

  23. Hey everyone! I’m signed up to go on this team and I created a facebook group for it, so if you’re signed up for Nepal and have facebook, you can join the group.

  25. I am From Nepal and my name is kamal aryal do I get any discount I have home in Nepal I don’t have stay in hotel ?

    • Kamal, You would be responsible for all your visas costs and round-trip transportation to/from US. We do run the same program in India.

  26. I’m interested I’m going on the Nepal team but it’s my first time going out of state and my parents said I should go with someone that I know like the Myers what should I do

  27. Is this team full to girls yet?

  28. Are there any spots for guys?

  29. How many spots are there left open for girls?

  31. Is this trip for the entire month and a half or are there trips within these months?

  32. Hi! I am interested in one of a few mission trips you have to offer. I would like to know a little more about the trip to Guatemala and Nepal. Also, is there anyway I can receive a scholarship for this trip either through you or an outside donor? And is there an FAQ site I can read about these trips? Thanks

    • Sydney, The descriptions of the teams are on our website. We do not have scholarships available, but we do supply you with prayer cards and letters to send out to help you raise the needed support.
