7/14 The team arrived at the Mibende unit on Friday and immediately began working on Saturday ministering to the local populace. We fitted 32 individuals with reading glasses that day alone. We also evangelized to adults and kids alike with a few accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The team also performed during Church (at Rock of Hope, which is also the construction project). Finally, Mr. Doug Petersen, Zambia Coordinator, and Ms. Kathy Vanderpool visited on Saturday, departing on Sunday morning. During the Church presentation Cody Yarbrough shared a message about prospering wherever God places you (his message was based on Joseph’s life). Also, the kids enjoyed swimming in the river just down the hill from the unit.
7/17 This was the team’s final work week out in the field, as we are traveling today back to Ndola. They provided eyeglasses and medical assistance here in Mibende and a few team members (Rose, McKayla, McKaylin, Kayla, Mara, Madeline, and Emma), had the opportunity to provide care to those near the Kansakar unit on Tuesday. The team also installed doors on the Rock of Hope Church and finished half of the floor (they ran out of supplies because it was too far and too late to obtain more sand and cement). Plus the team worked with a lot of children and gave a group of them light up toothbrushes donated by Cort Beynon’s dentist. The team has now arrived safely back in Ndola and are preparing to depart this weekend for Lusaka and Livingston for sightseeing and travel back to the states. The group who traveled to Kansakar on Tuesday were able to help 19 people with eyeglasses in just a few short hours. Furthermore, they prayed with three Zambians to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.
The team is traveling a lot this coming week. From Mibende to Ndola, Ndola to Lusaka, Lusaka to Livingston (and back), and then flying out of Lusaka to the States. Our prayers are for safe travels and that the team will remain unified.
