Dear Family and Friends,

Italy team on Mars Hill

We cherish the beautiful memories of another year with Teen Missions, completing our sixth summer with the ministry. Every team is so special and unique, always bringing us into new levels of faith and leaving us with a hunger to see more youth transformed in the presence of the Almighty!

This year, our team of 22 youth covered a lot of miles with backpacks on trains, buses and a ferry boat.  They were able to evangelize in Rome, Naples, Florence, the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii before we took a ferry boat to Greece. In the Amalfi Coast it felt as if we covered more miles than in all our travels in Italy. We camped on a steep hillside in a lemon orchard and counted 118 stairs just to go from our eating area to the bathrooms. That didn’t include the steps it took to reach the campsite from the village below at sea level. Once we arrived in Athens, it was so fun to share the refugee ministry first hand with our team members. The team slept in the new building that had just been rented a few weeks before our arrival. Above all, every one of us were challenged with hard questions as we shared our faith with people from all different ages, cultures, languages and circumstances, and every one of us became more bold in overcoming our fears. Some people accepted the truth of the Gospel and others walked away challenged to consider the truth that they had either never heard or never considered before. Thank you so much for your prayers and support during our summer team. It is remarkable to see God minister to all of us through this time together.

We have celebrated five muslims giving their lives to Christ since our team returned to Florida; three were recently baptized. It is a beautiful gift for us to be witnesses of such an amazing harvest from those coming from the Middle East. We cannot express the awe we feel to share in such an incredible outpouring of God’s Spirit. It is so different from anywhere in the world we have been before. Although we are living in a very dark spiritual place, there is nothing that separates us from God’s amazing love and grace!

We currently have our daughter, Sarah, visiting us from Israel for the month of September. She continues to serve those from the Middle East through her ministry with Shevet Achim in Jerusalem. She is learning to speak Arabic and Kurdish while working among the refugee families. We are so blessed to have her here with us…please keep her in your prayers as well.

Fun times together!

We are grateful to have renewed our documents in Italy, allowing us permission to stay in Europe for another two years. God has a reason for all things and we trust His guiding hand. We will be traveling to Italy together in the last week of September to collect our documents, as well as visit our friends. On October 7th, Sarah is flying back to Israel and the four of us will be on our way to Florida. David was called to serve jury duty in October and so we decided to make it a family event. The children and I  haven’t been back to see our families in three years, so we will also make a road trip to Colorado. We will be in the USA until December 4th. It would be a blessing for us to share about our ministry with your church or small group. If you would like to set up a meeting with us please contact us by email, [email protected], and we may be able to arrange a time to meet together. We look forward to visiting many of you during our time in the US.

Gabriela and Caleb are excited about some new decisions they have made. They are planning to continue their homeschooling in Florida during the remainder of this school year. Some wonderful friends have invited our children to stay with them on Merritt Island, assist them with their schooling and help them to get their driving permits. We all feel that this is a great opportunity for Gabriela and Caleb as they will be reunited with friends and have the chance to participate in English speaking activities. It may seem like such a simple desire, but it is a HUGE blessing when you have been living in another country for some time.

Please keep us all in your prayers as we go our separate ways. We are so blessed by your encouragement and friendship over these past six years. Your support, both in prayer and financially, represents a cornerstone of strength as we run towards the joy set before us!

With Joy & Peace,

David, Becca, Gabriela and Caleb
