The team has made it through the first half of Boot Camp with flying colors! They have already come together as a team faster and better than any of us could have imagined. Though the majority of the week has been quite dry, we did get a large downpour a few nights ago causing higher humidity and the beginning of the mosquito’s reign here at the Lord’s Boot Camp. Although we had a few wet tents from the rain, the attitudes of the team members have been awesome.
Overall, the team is healthy and have been doing great on staying hydrated during the long days in the sun. Blisters that were once a hindrance to the high level of activity have begun to heal and the team is adjusting well the conditions.
I thought I would spend a little bit of time to give all of you an exclusive look into a typical day on the Australia team here at Boot Camp. They begin the day with rise and shine at 5:30am. We then march to “Rapture Report” where each team is counted off before we begin the activities of the day. The team goes to run the Obstacle Course at 6:15am. They have been doing a fantastic job the last few days! Yesterday, Kat, Dillon, Makole, Megan and Kayla all made it over “The Wall” (the 12′ wall at the end of the OC). After the OC, the team eats breakfast and then heads off for their 30 minutes of personal devotions with the Lord. Each year we see lives changed by developing the simple habit of consistently spending time with the Lord daily. The next two hours, the team is in Bible classes where they listen to lessons on various subjects such as Spiritual Maturity, and God’s Will. The rest of the day is filled with Bath and Laundry, free time, lunch, and numerous other classes in construction, drama, music and puppets. Along with their continued learning in those classes, the team is required to memorize 40 specific Bible verses over the summer. Today’s verse is Isiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” After dinner at 5:30pm, the team has some free time to mingle with other teams, write letters, and work on their memory verses. At 7:15, the evening rally begins. It appears that this is everyones favorite time of the day. The rally is an awesome time of worship, daily awards, and biblical teaching geared towards teens and their walk with God. We have already seen each teen grow spiritually in amazing ways and we are so excited to see how the Lord will work in their lives for the remainder of the summer.
Here are a few testimonies from the team members:
Megan Knox – “Boot Camp has been very trying for me so far, but I can’t help but feel that God has called me here. In my devotions this morning, I was reading through one of my favorite books, Esther, which tells the story of how the young queen saved her people from annihilation. In verse 4:41 it states,”Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” And I can’t help but feel that, just as God placed Esther in the right position at the right time, He has placed me in Teen Missions just when I needed it. I am incredibly joyful and grateful for letting Him work His Will in my life.”
Deena Moyer – “Being here at Boot Camp can be stressful and crazy but it is really helping me grow because I am home body and being away from home for so long is stressful. But I know God will give me strength for ever day because He is an amazing God!
