Another week is flying by here in Australia! The team is pushing through the ‘week two slump’ and continues to make progress each and every day. Two trusses have gone up on the chapel, along with most of the walls. They have been working hard to keep up with the demand for walls, as well as working on their other projects, like levelling the area for the side walk. In the last few days, the weather has cleared, and the plentiful sunshine has really helped dry our clothes out on the lines. It’s also a welcome break from the afternoon showers that didn’t do much other than make everything muddy!
We have yet to see any koalas, but there are plenty of kangaroos, wallabies, and kookaburras! The whole team is still obsessed with kangaroo-watching, and we have been lucky to see quite a few mothers with joeys. In the evenings, they have been practicing their puppet songs in anticipation of a presentation at Noosa Church of Christ’s Kids Ministry this Sunday. There are definitely some skilled choreographers on this team! As we start our second week in Australia, the team has made it to the half-way of their memory verses. These kids now know over 20 verses of Scripture! Today’s verse is Joshua 1:9, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Pray that these kids will not just learn the verses for this summer, but will learn them for life!
The team has also spent time practicing their quizzing skills for the Bible Verse Quizzing at Debrief. Each night before Lights Out, we come together as a team for Group Devotions. Each night a team member shares something that has stood out to them from their personal devotions or something God has been teaching them. It has been awesome to hear from these kids how God is showing them things this summer and how He is working in their lives. What a privilege it is to be a part of what God is doing in and through these incredible young adults! Please continue to pray for us as we serve the Lord here in Australia. Pray for safety on the worksite, opportunities to share the Gospel, good attitudes, servant’s hearts, and unity within the team.
