NepalBe the hands and feet of Christ as you bring relief efforts to the people of Kathmandu. In the spring of 2015, a powerful earthquake shook the country of Nepal and many people lost everything. 


Teen Missions Trip (ages 13-19)

Travel:  After Commissioning you bus to the Miami International Airport and board a flight across the Atlantic Ocean, Spain, France and the Mediterranean Sea to Doha, Qatar. From Doha, a connecting flight across the Arabian Sea and India brings you to Kathmandu. A one-hour bus ride takes you from the airport to Mendies Haven. 

Ministry:  Your team will have numerous projects to complete around the property of Mendies Haven and work alongside Samaritan’s Purse to help rebuild homes and lives that have been devastated by this catastrophic event. The children there will capture your heart and you will become lifelong friends. Your team will have the opportunity to take part in their evening prayer time, singing, worshipping and praying with the 30 children who call Mendies Haven their home. Mendies Haven Children’s Home is located on a high hill overlooking Kathmandu. On a clear morning, you may see breathtaking glimpses of the snowy peaks of the Himalayan Mountains.

Adventure:  Sightseeing will include shopping in the Thamel market where you can barter for Gurkha knives, pashmina shawls, yak wool blankets and locally made jewelry. A visit to a national park will give you an opportunity to go on an elephant safari.

  1. Hi, my son Jesse just registered for this and we haven’t received a list of what to pack and what vaccinations he should get? We are two weeks out from going so I don’t want to miss out on anything important. He is super excited to be a part of this!

    • Sarah, The packing list is on our website under “resources”. You will need to check with his physician on shots. None are required.

      • A question for you. This 5 gallon bucket they have to it something they can buy at camp? My husband is wondering how he is supposed to fly with a bucket in his suitcase?

        • Sarahhv, Yes, he can get one at Boot Camp, but you can put the bucket in your tote and fill it with things.

    Hello Beth,
    I am already signed up for the Nepal trip, so my only question would be this.
    Can I bring in a check that is written for more than $200, when I arrive at bootcamp? I know I’m not allowed to send one in via mail after may 12, but can I bring one in to registration?

  3. Will there be 2017 Nepal Missions trip? When can I register for 2017 missions?

    • Rachel, We have not finalized our 2017 trips. They should be listed on our website in July and you can register then. However, the registrations will not be processed until mid-September.

  4. What does my daughter need to attend this ?.

  5. What day does my daughter need to arrive if see is flying into Orlando airport? And what day does she need to fly out? I ask because I always seem to mess this up and purchase plane tickets for the wrong day.

    • Chris, She needs to arrive between 6AM – 6PM on June 18 and can fly between 9AM -3PM on August 6. All flights should be in and out of the Orlando International Airport.

  10. Is housing in tents for this trip? Is there running water? How much time is actually spent in Nepal?

    • Amy, Last summer, the guys were in tents and the girls were inside. Yes, there is running water. They are in Nepal about 3 1/2 weeks. Please note that housing can change. We train the team members and leaders to live in tents during Boot Camp along with not having running water, etc.

  13. Hi! I went in the Nepal team last year. It was a amazing experience that I will never forget. The children are very loving and very happy to meet you. The trip was amazing and I would really encourage you to go if you think God is calling you to go 🙂

  17. This trip is an amazing trip! I was on the Nepal team last summer. Mendies Haven is an incredible place! Anyone who goes on this trip will be absolutely blessed and the kids will be so excited to see you!

  18. Just wondering, will this team probably be open to girls for a long while? I am not sure if this trip is what God has planned for me yet. Also, how much traveling time is involved getting to the orphanage(air time and/or bus time)?

    • Sarah, It is usually one of the more popular teams and will fill to girls quickly. It usually takes about two days to get there, depending on flights.

    • Mikayla, The General Fact Sheet is mailed out with your support packet. The Individual Team Fact Sheet is mailed later in the spring.

  21. does the cost of the trip 4890 cover air flight? and does a bus pick you up or do you have to drive to the lords boot camp?
    is there a dress code for girls ?is there a packing list? my mom wants to know , I love this program because it allows kids to grow closer to God I have looked far and wide for a program that would let me go I am only 13 and you guys have made my dream come true I am saving up and hope I will be able to go this year if not I wil go next year thank you soo much for the work you do.

    • Makayla, It does cover your round-trip transportation to/from your project country. It does not include your round-trip transportation to/from FL. Yes, there is a dress code and a packing list. There is probably a packing list on our website (check under resources).

      • is the price 5190 now? and does the earthquake make a difference in the age?

        • Makayla, We will not know the final price until we get the airline cost. That is an estimate.

        • The earthquake does not effect the age at all. I went on this trip this past summer and we had multiple people on the team who were 13. I hope you get to go! Mendies Haven is absolutely beautiful I miss it so much, especially the kids!

            Yes, Hannah is absolutely right! I went on this team last year, too, and it was one of the best things I have ever done in my life! You will love Nepal and the people there! Mendies Haven is incredible!

  22. So I am not registered?

  23. I tried to register for this trip and filled out payment with a debit card. However, I have not received any confirmation emails or the like. So I am wondering if transaction was complete and is in the system or if something went wrong and I need to re-register.

    • Lance, We are having some issues with this. Almost everyone is out of the office until September 8, but the computer guys are trying to work on it while on the road. Please email our office and someone will get back to you ([email protected]).
