The Northern Ireland Team Is Ready To Begin Ministry

DSCF0164Hello to all of our family and friends!  So Tuesday after our showers at the Leisure Centre, we walked back to the church (Mount Pottinger Presbyterian) and found Karis and John making pizza, chips (fries), and they’d bought us fizzy drink (pop). For a special dessert, John got the team drumstick ice cream cones. They spoiled us rotten our first day! After tea (supper), the team spent a little time practicing puppet choreography and did a few of their dramas. Noel, the man who was at Boot Camp volunteering, came by with his wife and son and the team showed them a few of their dramas.  Our guests brought us some of their favorite crisps (chips) for us to try.  I don’t think we are going to have a problem being hungry here in Northern Ireland!  We all got in bed about 9:30 and slept until a 7 a.m. wake up call. And we wouldn’t mind a nap even though that’s the longest sleep we’ve all had in weeks!

So, Wednesday was a settling-in kind of day!  We’re getting into a routine with personal devotions, assigning the KP, the prayer closet, memory verse time, Bible marking, and the other things we will need to accomplish during our days. Though all our weeks look a little different, we expected we’d have to be flexible in when we accomplished all of the things we need to get done! We had a meeting with our missionaries so we have a better idea what of what and when we will be helping with the kids’ programs.  Right now they’re planning stories, puppet programs, and songs to use!

We are excited to start passing out invitations to the Holiday Club (morning program) and Summer Schemes (afternoon Vacation Bible Schools) at parks and other places today! The programs begin next Monday and we’ll be doing them pretty much Monday through Friday until we leave Ireland!  We’re excited to get going in our ministry here.

These testimonies are from Boot Camp. I know they’re a little behind, but your kids grew so much during their two weeks of training and I want you to see them. These testimonies are worth back-tracking for!

Kaitlyn Krakes   Hello All!  The past days of Boot Camp have been an incredible experience for me.  I have grown so much closer to Christ this week than any other YEAR I have ever lived in.  I learned that in every situation, I can rely on Christ.  He is my rock and my foundation.  I also realized that I should listen to God’s call on my life and obey.  This week, though tough, has been fun.  I have been able to have such AMAZING people on my team.  They are great encouragers, super nice people and great friends.  Every day I thank God that He gave me the team I have.  God is sooo good and I am so unbelievably happy that God has blessed me with the opportunity to come here and come closer to Him.  On a side note, everyday, the OC gets better every time.  I have crossed the slough every time!  It is also much easier to wake up at 5:10 every day.  Yay!  Bye for now!

Josh Davis   I am having so much fun at Boot Camp!  My whole team is amazing.  Waking up at 5:30 isn’t too fun, but I’m getting used to it.  The Obstacle Course is a whole lot more than I expected it to be!  I love and miss you Mom, Dad, Abigail, and Sarah. Can’t wait to tell all my stories!DSCF0242 DSCF0205 DSCF0153
