The Honduras team made their first hike to Santa Maria on Saturday, July 18. They have set up camp and have settled in. It is very beautiful here. The weather has been very, very rainy. As a matter of fact, it is raining right now as I send this report.
We made it! It feels as though heaven and hell have been moved to get to our mountain top. The past couple of days have been a chaotic journey of moving, unpacking, repacking, looking for the rice, and trying to pair down our supplies to prepare to make our treck up the mountain.
Our adventure has included, but is not limited to…starting a fire in the rain, which many of our manly men were enthused and needed to help build a fire. They were Sawyer G, Mack, Alex, Josh, Michael, and Sam. As our team was battling sickness, we had compassionate team members- Becka, Tory, Sam, Grace, Ayo, and many others reaching out to take care of those who were sick. It feels as if we have taken countless bus rides, but with the hard work of our team, they loaded up the buses, and we finally made it to the base of the mountain.

Sam Jackson commented on our journey. “After being in Honduras for a week, I realize how blessed I am. We rode a bus through countryside, and seeing how these people live, it makes me thank God for the things I have. I started to think about it, and the less you have the more
