Curl, Kattie Newsletter (Winter 2016)

Curl 2016Dear Friends and Supporters,

Greetings from Teen Missions in sunny Merritt Island, Florida! I hope this newsletter finds you well, and that you had a wonderful Christmas with Family and Friends. I want to start with thanking everyone for all the prayers and financial support; this is only possible because of you, I am incredibly blessed! Also thanks for all the phone calls, text messages and cards you have sent me. They have been a great blessing and have helped me more then you will ever know!

My official first day of work here at Teen Missions was November 9, 2015. I am working in the Finance Department, where I work with some great people who have been very helpful. My first few weeks were pretty crazy; I was blessed with joining staff the same week that the brochures came in – all 95,000 of them. Between adding the insert, tabbing by hand when the tabbing machine was messing up, and helping with the addressing, I had my fill of the brochure for the year. We also held a First Step seminar, a number of retreats using the Teen Missions property, and worked on getting the grounds ready for Boot Camp. Teen Missions has been a very busy place.

At Christmas break I was able to drive home to Ohio. It was nice to have some cold weather and see friends and family. I had a busy two weeks without a lot of time to myself but would not have wanted it any other way. Some of the highlights were going to see Christmas lights at the park and zoo, going to community Christmas Eve midnight services, going to a get-together on New Year’s Day with my church family to watch the Ohio State bowl game. Then before leaving I had the opportunity to speak at my home church and share with them the 2015 Teen Missions Scrapbook and what I have been doing since I have moved here to Florida.

South africa baseSummer Plans

As of right now, the mission trip I will be going on and helping to lead this summer is to South Africa where our team will be conducting tours of a life-size Tabernacle! I am excited that another TMI staff lady, Pat Storey, will be leading that team as well! Teen Missions South Africa Base is located in Pyramid, outside the capital of Pretoria. The South Africa
team, along with Bible School students from many of the African BMWs, will share in open-
air meetings and in churches to spark an awakening for Christ in Africa. Tabernacle tours will help to point people to Christ by showing how God used His meeting place to reveal His plan of salvation for mankind. Teen Missions South Africa Base was established in 1984. They have a BMW program, three MSSM Sunday schools, and one Samaritan Ladies Unit (where they teach the local ladies a trade in order to help them raise their families).
