Curl, Kattie Newsletter (Spring 2016)

Curl 2016Dear Friends and Family

Spring is here! That means that the summer and our upcoming teams are not too far behind. Teen Missions is very busy this time of year with getting ready to set up the Big Tops for Boot Camp, getting all the obstacles set up for the Mud Run and getting the different groups ready to go to Texas and Indiana to set up the Tabernacle replicas. It has been crazy around here to say the least.

mom and meSome things that have truly been a blessing for me is my mom was able to come down and spend Easter with me here in Florida. We had a great time—it was nice to show her around so she could see what Teen Mission is doing and where we are going! I also will be teaching a class this term to the BMW students, which I’m very excited about. I will be teaching first aid and basic medical skills that are good to have on the mission field when you don’t have a lot around and you have to make do with what you have.

My summer mission trip has changed I am no longer going to South Africa, instead I will be going to Cambodia with the Bobbs! Teen Missions in Cambodia is located in town of Siem Reap in northern Cambodia. This base is one of the only Teen Missions bases located inside a town. It is a small compound with a two-story building that is in the process of being built. Each summer, the staff runs a national Boot Camp in an alternate location, since the base is too small to hold the Boot Camp. The first Boot Camp was run in 2004 and it has run every year since. The base also runs a BIBLE, MISSIONARY & WORK (BMW) Training Center. The staff at the base is very diverse as there are people serving there from the U.S., Indonesia, and the Philippines, as well as Cambodia.

Cambodia is primarily a Buddhist nation and is nestled between Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. This small country has survived a brutal history, as it was caught in the conflicts of the Vietnam War and was also controlled by the Khmer Rouge. Almost two million Cambodians were killed during this time. Today the majority of the 13 million citizens are farmers and many live in poverty. Tourism is a major source of income. This summer we will travel to Siem Reap, Cambodia, and will be riding out to surrounding villages on motorcycles and teaching cambodia 2children the message of salvation through dramas, songs and puppets. Also we will be traveling to Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia, to continue our ministry as well as do some small work projects there. Please pray for me and the Bobbs as we lead this summer trip to Cambodia. If you would like to financially support me for my summer mission trip I need to raise a total of $2,500.00— write summer mission trip on the coupon below. If you are unable to financially support me I ask for your prayer support because there is power in prayer!

On May 7, 2016, Teen Missions will host our second annual AIDS Orphans 5K Mud Run in hopes of continuing efforts to “take the orphanage to the orphans.” We will have over 30 obstacles from mud-laden hurdles, tire climbs, mazes, to a carousel rope swing that make up the course that’s set to accommodate runners ready to get wet and muddy. Proceeds from this race will provide food, medicine, education and spiritual hope to more than 10,000 orphaned children. The mission of AIDS Orphans and Street Children is to provide for children whose parents have died of AIDS- related diseases and for those children who do not have a “sustaining” family. If you would like to participate in the Mud Run you can go onto the Teen Missions website to sign up at We would love to see you at the Mud Run!!

Please pray for the health of the Teen Missions staff and students all over the world. Pray for the team members as they register for the 2016 teams. Pray for the preparations for the Mud Run. Pray for the Tabernacle crews as they prepare to go to Texas and Indiana. Pray for Bernie as she recovers from several mini strokes—she is now in rehab.

Thank you again for everything you are doing and have done for me I feel blessed to have all of you in my life! I can’t wait to get back from my mission trip this summer and share with you everything that happened and was made possible because of you!

Servant in Christ
