A big “Hello” to our Friends, Family, Church and Teammates!
Matthew 25:40 says, “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” I read a blog recently that looked at Matthew 25:40 from the perspective of parenting. It was so encouraging to me, that I wanted to share a little bit of it with you:
“One of the most precious passages in all of Scripture involves Jesus telling His followers that whatever kindnesses or acts of service they showed to other human beings, they showed to Him. In other words, Jesus is saying (if I may paraphrase), ‘Whatever you do for another human being, you do for Me. It’s not just that I appreciate what you’ve done, but that I take it personally.’ Every time I consider Jesus’ incredible words, I’m blown away. Do You really mean that when I changed that diaper, cuddled that child, or read that story for the umpteenth time, I did those things for You? That you took it so personally, it was as if You were the one sitting here next to me while I read to You? Of course he meant it. Jesus never says things He doesn’t mean. The implications are mind-blowing. They lift the sometimes humdrum, routine life of a mom from seeming insignificance (at least in the world’s eyes) to a position of incredible glory.”
I read this while I was in the middle of a hard, busy week caring for a sick child and helping my other children with big, important school projects on top of my ‘normal’ mom tasks. I needed the reminder that everything I do counts. Nothing is meaningless or “too small” and my attitude through it all matters! Did I grumble when I helped Him get dressed? Did I half-heartedly cook for Him? Did I whine about having to put away His clothes? Every load of laundry I wash and fold, every meal I prepare, every head of hair I braid, every room I sweep, every taxi service I give, every kindness, patience, mercy, and grace I show, all serve Jesus. He sees it all as if I do it for Him. What a privilege it is to love Jesus by loving all of those He has placed in my life! (If you want to read the entire blog, you can find it at www.MannaForMoms.com. It is titled “What You Did for Jesus Today”.)
Our girls are thriving in school and have been given great honors recently for their efforts both academically and artistically. Kenya was awarded a second place ribbon for her Science Fair project, “Spread the Soap, Not the Germs”. At the Brevard County School Board Art Show, Isabelle was awarded the Purchase Award (the school board bought her artwork to keep it permanently on display) and a Special Recognition Award. (We have included pictures of the projects of both girls!) Lily is becoming quite the proficient reader. She is so eager to learn and follow in the footsteps of her big sisters. She has such a sweet disposition, and is always so kind and caring. Now, if she would just eat her food at mealtimes… Gabriel is learning new skills everyday, like climbing on absolutely everything! If he is quiet, he is probably up to something in the pantry or bathroom. We have adopted a ‘close-all-the-doors’ policy in our home for the next little while.:) He gets away with almost nothing though since his sisters are always keeping tabs on him too.
Next month, Mike will be traveling to Evansville, Indiana, to set up the life-size replica of the Old Testament Tabernacle. Its summer home will be at the TTT ministry’s base. It has been there before. It is probably the most successful location at winning people to the Lord than any other place the Tabernacle has been set up. Please pray for Mike as he leads the set-up crew, whom I like to call “modern-day Levites”.
Thank you, thank you to each of you who have given financial support to help cover the cost of taking our four children with us to Cuba this summer. We have just over $2,200 remaining!! Thank you to all of you who have given. Please continue to pray with us as God provides the final amount. The kids are very excited about our next adventure on the “away-from-home” mission field. Lily asks all the time if we are going to Cuba tomorrow.:)
We are so happy to be serving the Lord with Teen Missions and we hope this joy comes through to you in our newsletters. We could not be here without your continued support, both prayer and financial. We praise the Lord for His goodness to us in that He has surrounded us with such faithful friends and family! We are humbled daily by His continued provision in our lives and ministry.
