Phippen, Seth & Emily Newsletter (Spring 2016)

Phippen 2016Seeking His Kingdom First!

Matthew 6:31-33 says, “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Emily and I are trying to live this out every day as we have been encouraged by Christ to do so. Trials and hard times come, but we are encouraged to seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness and we rely on the promise that He will take care of our needs. We love being a part of the work that Teen Missions is doing, both here and around the world. It’s so easy to see how what is done here affects others all over the globe! Emily and I know because we have seen firsthand in Malawi and Bangladesh and many other places that people are in need of so many things; but the most important need is that of Christ and the Gospel. They need to know that God loves them enough that even while they reject God that He still died for them. This is the message that we bring. So as we prepare for the busy summer months, we remember to seek first the Kingdom of God. Emily and I will encourage others to do the same both here in Florida and to all the other places that the kids will go to from Teen Missions this summer!

In the next few weeks all the staff will be working on setting up the Big Top tents that are used during the summer time. We have one tent that is just short of a football field in length! Pray that we would have strength and safety as we work on this project. The Mud Run that I have been working on is scheduled for Saturday, May 7th. We already have over 200 people signed up and by race day we are expecting several hundred more! There are still lots of things that need to get finished before that time, but we have lots of help and are confident that we will be in good shape when the date comes around.

Immediately after the Mud Run all the Bible school students, a few other staff and I  will be going to either Texas or Indiana to set up Teen Missions life-size replicas of the Old Testament Tabernacle. I will be going to Texas and it should take us just under a week to get it set up. This is a very difficult job and we can use all the prayer we can get. Please pray for me and the rest of the people in my group that we will be safe and no one will get hurt. Once we are done getting the Tabernacle set up we will be well on the way for the Teen Missions summer!

IMG_0089Summer is Coming!

Most of you know that summer time is the busiest time of the year at Teen Missions. With over 550 people between the ages of 4 and 80 signed up to come on missions trips with Teen Missions to locations all over the world things would be busy. There is a lot of preparation that goes into getting ready for all those people to come here to Merritt Island, FL for training at the Lord’s Boot Camp!

This summer Emily and I have the privilege of helping keep things going here at the home office through the summer. While the kids are here at Boot Camp I will be teaching classes and doing many other things to help the 10 days of Boot Camp run smoothly. When the kids go out to their projects we will be collecting the reports from all the teams and putting the information from the teams on the website for parents to see how their kids are doing. We will also be preparing for when all the kids come back here to Florida for the time of debriefing after the missions trip.   Emily will be busy taking care of James and the new baby and helping me as much as possible! She is eager and excited to see what this summer holds and the new ways that God will use us!

Continue to pray for Emily. Little baby girl Phippen has been pushing against Emily’s ribs and it has been very uncomfortable for her. Pray that in these last few weeks she would be able to get the sleep that she needs. Baby Phippen is due June 4th!

James is learning new words and mimicking us all the time now. He loves people and says “hi” to everyone he meets! He brings so much joy to our family and others. I am doing well. Like always, I am learning new things from God’s Word and trying to apply them to my life and help lead the family that God has given me! Please pray that as God shows me new things that I will be obedient to His voice above everything else the world tries to scream at me.

Pray that we will seek first His kingdom!
