Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord our God is with us wherever we go! (Joshua 1:9)
Dear Family, Friends and Supporters,
Greetings from the warm Kingdom of Cambodia!
It was a sunny afternoon at a Cambodian wedding when I saw Shoum. He is a man with special needs whom I wanted to become friends with and get to know. We exchanged smiles and eventually we started seeing him around our area. At first he was shy and would just stand outside our gate, so we asked him to join us for a meal. Little did we know that this was the beginning of a great friendship! He has been frequently visiting us while grazing his family’s two cows in the open rice fields outside our property and loves to fellowship with us and enjoy the food, clothes, snacks, and occasional movie that we share with him. Sometimes he also volunteers to help us with some of our work projects that we are doing! This friendship really touched our hearts because we have a burden for children and adults with special needs and we are grateful to God for helping us to have a big influence in his life because some of the people around here don’t think much of him because all he can do is watch cows. We are thankful for God allowing us the privilege of becoming his good friend and showing him the love of Jesus. It also proves that sometimes actions can be louder than words because we are still in the process of learning the Khmer Cambodian language and cannot communicate very much with him!
We were really blessed to host the World Race Team here in February. They greatly helped us replace 50 cement posts that cows had broken down over time. They also helped us clear a large area of brush and grass for a future garden or building and expand a large section of our fence in the back property by stringing barbed wire. They were a great encouragement to us, did a great job playing with and ministering to the few kids who frequently visit our base and were an encouragement to the churches in our area.
We have been the only staff serving here in Kampong Chhnang since December, but the Lord has been faithful to us and we are moving forward with Teen Missions’ big plans and vision for a lot more ministry to happen at this base in the future. We have been busy in recent months helping to improve it and prepare for more staff and ministry here. We have painted the bathrooms, dug and filled a foundation for a small new staff house and mixed and poured the concrete floor for it, replaced the metal siding of the kitchen, started digging the foundation for the expansion of the pavilion concrete floor, started digging and installing a concrete tunnel for an improved road entrance to the property, converted the extra room that is attached to our staff house into a kitchen, and helped the World Race Team in doing their projects.
We appreciate so very much all the people who have been so faithfully praying for us and who support us financially. Your sacrifice and gifts encourage and help us very much and are making a big difference for eternity. We are grateful that the Lord would use us as His vessels and for you who enable us to continue doing the ministry that Jesus has called us to do—being His hands and feet.
We do have a continuing need to increase our low monthly support which will help us do more ministry in the future. We also need to raise $2,300 for airfare for returning to the US around the end of the summer. We are very grateful to those who have sent in one-time gifts that have helped us have enough money for the Indonesia trip and for finishing the visa process. God is good and He is our Provider and uses His saints to fund His work worldwide. Would you prayerfully consider partnering again with us financially with a donation of $50 or however much God leads you to help us and His work?
We really appreciate receiving letters, facebook messages, emails and notes of encouragement from everyone.
May the Lord continue to bless, fill, encourage, strengthen and guide you into the good works which He has prepared in advance for you to do!
