The Cameroon Soccer team has arrived safely at the TMI base in Bamenda. After nearly 20 hours in the air and an 11 hour bus ride, we are very happy to be settled in. We have spent the past few days preparing for our role in helping to run the Cameroon Boot Camp which starts on Tuesday. We will be teaching classes (puppets, music & drama) as well as judging the obstacle course and helping to run rallies in the evening. Our lesson plans are prepared and we’re excited for the Cameroonian team members who will start arriving tomorrow. On Sunday, we visited a local church and today we went to the Helping Hands orphanage where we shared with the kids. We’ve been playing soccer with the local kids several times a day on the field at the base. So far we’ve had no major injuries or sicknesses – just a few sore throats that have cleared up quickly thanks to some cough syrup we picked up at the local pharmacy. It has rained every afternoon/evening, but thankfully we are sleeping inside so we and our gear have stayed nice and dry. Line drying our laundry is a challenge however – the cool temperatures and daily rain require quite a creative juggling act of moving clothes from outside lines to inside ones and back again. Thank you for praying.
