This past weekend the team had a lot of fun opportunities.
On Saturday the team got to go and do an evangelistic outreach to the kids in a neighborhood not far from us. The team did their presentation and the kids loved it, especially the puppets! Haley shared an object lesson and Hannah gave her testimony. Praise be to God, around 6 or 7 local kids accepted Jesus as their personal Savior!!!
Later that day we got to take a boat ride on Lago de Amatitlan and explore the beauty of Guatemala! The kids got to look at little local markets for some different cultural items and snacks! They also got to go on horse rides, which they absolutely loved! For some it was their first time on a horse, which was really exciting.
On Sunday we went to the local church here at Nuevo Reta (the children’s home we are working with). The church’s worship leader was not available, so Mackenzie got to lead worship in Spanish and English. The team sang a couple of songs and Mr. Craig preached the sermon. It was a really awesome experience to see everyone worshipping Jesus together in our own languages.
That evening, the team went to a local park to play soccer with some of the local kids and teens. They all seemed to have a great time, and they even scored a few goals!
Today the kids are back on the work project continuing where they left off on Friday. We have been preparing the site to start pouring concrete footers for a stairway and laying block on the second floor of the dormitory. The team is working really hard! They come back tired, but really excited about all they are doing.
The weather continues to be amazing! It has been a nice change from the heat and humidity of Boot Camp. We’ve had some rain storms here and there but it’s mostly been sunny and breezy. It continues to get pretty cool at night, which is nice!
The team hopes to keep working hard on the work site in order to complete as much as they can, and to keep evangelizing to those around us as much as they can. We as a leadership are so proud of the work our team is doing! They are a great group of teens!
Thank you to all who are praying for us. Keep the prayers coming!
Team Member testimonies:
Hola Mom and Dad and Robert! We’re doing great! Guatemala is such a beautiful country and the kids at the orphanage are so sweet! I’m learning a lot and having a bunch of fun! I miss you bunches! I’m making so many new friends!!!!! Becca.
Hey mom dad and Karson! I’m doing great. Guatemala is awesome and I miss you tons. The children’s home is super nice, and all the kids are great. I haven’t gotten sick yet, so that’s a bonus. I have been able to practice the very little Spanish I know while we are talking with the kids, so that’s improving. The team is really coming together and we are bonding like a family. We haven’t received any letters yet, but I cannot wait until they come in. I miss you very much, and hope you are doing well!!!! Love you! Katie
