One week left in Guatemala!

One week left in Guatemala! We are excited to see our friends and families soon, but sad to be leaving this beautiful country and our new friends here. We will miss the kids, the mountains, the food (especially the black beans), the block laying (or at least working together), and the wonderful people we’ve met. God has blessed us so much as we have sought to be a blessing to the Nuevo Reto children’s home, Templo de la Gloria, and the people of Villa Nueva, Guatemala. It seemed like a month was a long time when we started, but it’s seems to have flown by so quickly!

Thursday night after we finished work, we had the opportunity to share a presentation with Iglesia de Christo Los Dos Olivos. It is a little church perched on the side of one of the surrounding mountains with a beautiful view of Villa Nueva. We sang several songs, puppets, Mr. Craig preached a message about training ourselves to be godly, and Mackenzie finished the service with a special song. It was a great night of worshipping together.

On Saturday, we did evangelism in another local neighborhood. It was the largest crowd of kids yet! The team sang, did puppets, and played games with the kids. Grace shared her testimony. The team shared the Gospel and over 20 kids accepted the Lord! After the presentation, we played basketball in the park with some of the guys from Nuevo Reto.

On Sunday, we sang in the service and Mrs. Sharon preached a message about allowing the creator to shape us into the masterpiece He planned us to be. We spent the rest of the afternoon bible quizzing and doing some long-overdue relaxing.

Today, we begin our last week of work. Our focus now is on finishing well and getting as much work done for the kids of Nuevo Reto as we can. We have been able to use all of the construction materials that Teen Missions purchased for the project.  We expected to run out of supplies sometime on Tuesday, but God provided 25 more bags of cement through one of Nuevo Reto’s supporters. It should be enough to keep us working through our time here in Guatemala.

The block laying on the walls is finished and we are preparing to pour the concrete beams at the top. We are also preparing the ground in front of the building to pour concrete and laying block for the railing on the second floor. We are also continuing teaching English classes and breaking apart pallets for firewood. With the work left to do on the dormitory and all the work it takes to pack up a TMI team and fly home, it will be a very busy week!

Please keep us in your prayers as we finish our time here. Pray that we will finish well, that God will keep us safe on the worksite and while we travel, and that God will continue to work in us and through us during the time we have left.

God bless,
The Guatemala Team

I am having a great time here in Guatemala. We have done so much already here for Nuevo Reto. It seems that we are getting close to finishing the project. Hi mom. Do not worry I got your coffee and other things for you to. I love you all and I miss everything and everyone too. God has shown me many things here in Guatemala – like how I am around kids and being peaceful with the team. Can not wait to see you all again. – Will

Hey! Being here in Guatemala is really fun! We’ve been working so hard on this project and we are almost done! The project is coming along great. The evangelizing is even better. Watching the kid’s faces as we sing for them and perform for them is so touching. It’s a life changing experience down here. Well, I hope everything is going great up there. I miss my family a lot and can’t wait to see them again. But I know that God is using us as tools to help others in need.  – Owen
