Phippen, Seth & Emily Newsletter (Winter 2017)

Happy New Year!

Emily and I have so much to be thankful for and we are excited and look forward to what God is going to do in us this year. If you have been getting our updates you know that we are always on the move! That was true in 2016 as we moved our family to the Teen Missions base in Saskatchewan, Canada in December. We will be making another BIG move this summer as we move to Malawi, Africa.

Emily and I love this time of new year because it reminds us to look to Scripture and see all the things that God makes new. Ephesians 4:24 “to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”   2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”    Lamentations 3:22-23 “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

We also remember Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”  We are reminded that we have been made a new creation by Christ and we should walk in that new creation lifestyle reflecting on God’s new mercy and His great faithfulness. All this as we live to the glory of God and to love others in all that we do.

Lauren Noel

Lauren was born in June and has been growing so much! She is now crawling around the house following James closely. Lauren loves to play with James, and He loves to tease her and make her laugh (which she does a lot). She loves the Christmas tree and looking at the lights on the tree. She will be sad when we take it down.

James Lincoln

James is sad that he cannot be outside as much as he was in Florida, but he enjoys the time he does get to play outside in the snow. Even after the 50 hours it took us to drive to Canada James loves riding in the car. Almost everyday he asks Emily and me if we can go for a ride. This means that his favorite time of the day is when we drive to the post office to get our mail. His favorite toys right now are his Legos and his Playmobil figures. He has a Lego tractor and it is his favorite toy to play with. I think Grandpa’s farm must have given him a love for tractors and animals.

Emily and I have started making friends here in Outlook and are getting involved in a local church. Emily is already involved in a weekly ladies Bible study. We are looking for a small group from our church that we can get involved in also. We stayed in the area for Christmas and explored the area and nearby city. We found a mall that has a free kids’ play area. That is so nice for James, because it’s way too cold to go to a park!

Right Now & Beyond

Right now in the Teen Missions Canada office I am working to schedule opportunities to share about Teen Missions with people and churches throughout Canada. I have many events planned where I will be speaking about the Teen Missions summer missions program and recruiting youth to be a part of the summer missions trips. We will be here in Canada until sometime in May.

We have been offered the position of country coordinator of Teen Missions in Malawi, Africa and we have accepted the position! Emily and I are so excited to move back to Malawi. This summer we will take a group of teenagers to Malawi to drill a well for water. The summer is an important and loved time in our ministry with Teen Missions as we will not only share the Gospel with the people in Malawi, but also as we disciple all the youth who will be with us throughout the summer.

After the summer team leaves we will stay in Malawi and begin the training necessary for our position. Many of you know that Emily and I worked with Teen Missions in Malawi in 2013. During that time we were filling in for the country coordinator while he was in the USA. So we already have some experience with this position. We are agreeing upon an initial three-year commitment to be in Malawi. This is a big step to take to move our family to Africa and to take over all the work that Teen Missions is doing in the country.

We would appreciate your prayers for us as we prepare to move our family to Malawi, Africa. We will be sending out another letter by mail in a few months to let you know more about what our work in Malawi will look like. If you would like to receive monthly updates via email please let us know and we will add you to our monthly email list.

Please pray that we will be safe on the snowy roads up here as we travel in Canada.

Pray that we will have good health.

Pray that God will raise all the financial support that we need.

Thank you for praying for us as we serve the Lord with Teen Missions. God is providing for us through your prayers and financial support. We know that even when we move or make a transition like coming to Canada or going to Malawi we are never removed from God’s love and your faithful prayers for us.

With much love,

Seth, Emily, James & Lauren Pippin
