The Zimbabwe Team Has Arrived!

Greetings from a very tired but happy to have finally arrived Zimbabwe team!!

We have been doing a lot of traveling the past few days. The trip from South Africa to Zimbabwe was very eventful, to say the least. About an hour into the trip to Zimbabwe, the trailer that we had all our bags on got a flat tire. We went and got a new tire to find out it was too big and on top of that, we also had to have the trailer welded back together. So after hanging out on the side of the road for four hours, we were back on our way. We spent our time having devotionals, practicing our presentation, and connecting as a team to see that no time was wasted.

When we finally got to the border, we had to wait for what seems like five to six hours. By the time we got to the base it was 6 am and we had a very tired team. We tucked in for the “night” (which was really morning) and woke up refreshed and able to better settle into the base.

Today we went to a local school and did our presentation for the first time. The team did an amazing job and afterward, we fitted eyeglasses for the older people in the village. We had over 60 children give their life to Christ!!!

The weather here is so not like Florida. In the mornings and evenings it’s in the lower 40’s and in the afternoon the highs are in the 70’s so it is sweat shirts all around for most of the team.

We are having an amazing time here, and we can’t wait to give out more eyeglasses!  Today we did eyeglasses and a presentation at a local school.  The kids had a blast, but I think we enjoyed it even more… It’s been pretty cold here, mainly for us Floridians, but we’re adjusting well.  Can’t wait to see what else God has for us to see and learn.  Miss and love you momma and daddy <3 -Amanda (#23)

We have finally arrived in Zimbabwe. After a long few days of travel. We started our clinics today which went really well. The kids were really excited to have us all play with them.  -Tori
