An Update From The Navajo Boot Camp Team

Pastor Mike taught block laying and carpentry this week as the team finished training classes and continued repairs to the upper road.  On Wednesday night, we held a Commissioning Service and enjoyed sharing our program with both Navajo team members’ families who came to visit.  The team began taking down the Obstacle Course on Thursday and the Big Top Tent. In the afternoon, we prepared for and traveled to our first ‘Just Move It’ or JMI 5k race. No, we did not run… With the adults who were present, we shared the Survey About Teenagers (from our partner TTT Ministries). The team performed the puppet songs “Laughing Song” and “Clappy Song” and the Drama “Battleground”. With the children, we gave out free Wordless Bracelets, Good News coloring books, and balloon animals. All of the Navajo enjoyed the free ice water that we had set up on our table to encourage them to come visit us. The team also volunteered to help the race coordinator distribute giveaways after the race and assisted with cleanup. The team had many significant conversations. Seth prayed with one Navajo man who wanted to pray to receive Jesus. Praise the Lord!  Today is a full work day at WIM. We plan to do some more takedown on the OC and push to finish our repairs to the upper road.

Testimonies from the team members:

Emerald S. — This week has been pretty fun! Wednesday was Commissioning and Rachel’s birthday so that was pretty exciting. Plus, the 2nd Arizona team came to pick up some equipment. They were nice, except they took our leader, Jeremiah. I’m so very sad… but we will get to see him again at Debrief. Yesterday we went to evangelize at our first JMI (Just Move It) 5k Race. We did not run the race, but we congratulated the runners, did puppets and dramas and gave out Bibles and Wordless Books… Today, we are planning to have a full work day doing construction on the road—hopefully, we’ll be smashing more rocks!  I love everybody… Bye.

May W. —  Boot Camp is officially over. We took down the Big Top and all went well. Our team is growing closer, and I can’t wait to see how God is going to move in each of our lives over the summer. Yesterday, we had the privilege to set up a booth at our first Just Move it 5k run. We were able to take surveys and through that, we were able to talk to people about the love of God. Our summer has just begun and I can’t wait to tell all ya’ll about it.  — Malawi May
