A Peru Team Update

Hello, friends and family! Things around here have been kind of stop and go. We go in between pouring concrete and waiting for it to set. While we wait, we practice our presentation, puppet songs, and work on memory verses. We have also had several opportunities to go out into the city.

Since we have been doing the same thing as normal, I thought that you might want to know our daily schedule. We start out by waking up bright and early at 6:30, then we start devotions at 6:45. After spending alone time with God, we come together for Bible marking class from 6:45-7:30. Breakfast is at 7:30 and then we start our work day at 8. We work until 12 or 12:30 and then eat lunch. After lunch we have library reading time, then straight back to work until 4 pm. The kids then have bath and laundry time until dinner at 5.  The rest of the evening is filled with free time/ SB time. Sometimes we go to the Plaza/ Bakery or the market during this time. Unfortunately, the kids with SB’s have to stay behind if this happens. Around 7:30 we start our nightly class which is either Grubby to Grace/ God’s Gentlemen or  Reboot and Unplug. then we have evening devotions. Every night someone different leads evening devos. It has been really cool to see what the kids come up with for devos and it has been amazing getting to know them more and hear their testimonies. After devos we have hot seat which is where the other team members get to ask the one who did devos questions. This has been really helpful to get to know each other. After devos it is time for bed at 9:30.

On Saturday’s we visit the orphanage and play with the kids. This week we presented the Gospel through wordless bracelets. Cassidy, Elli, and Emily have been very helpful in explaining things to the children in Spanish. We also played on the playground, played soccer, and made balloon animals. The kids love balloon animals.

Today, we got the privilege to visit a local church. They were very welcoming and gave us all hugs! We got the chance to do a part of our presentation for them. We sang “This Little Light Of Mine”, “Joy, joy, joy”, “Jesus Loves Me”, and “All In All”. We then went to the back of the church with the children. There we shared the Gospel with Wordless Bracelets and then we played a game called “Mingle”. We also sang “Rock, Sword, Shield” for the children which they thought was really funny. They then served us drinks, cookies, bread, and candy. We also had time to play with the children and talk to the host before we left. This afternoon we played volleyball and soccer with some local Peruvian teens, which was a lot of fun.

We are excited to see what God has in store for week three! We should be finishing the forms and pouring the last of the concrete early in the week and laying brick toward the end of the week. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, we definitely feel them!
