Samuel & Redika McCracken Newsletter (2017)

Hello, family & friends!

“But I don’t want to go home!” is a statement we hear team members say every summer. This is sometimes said because some team members feel more love and loved on a TMI team then they do in their own homes! We see more and more kids come to us from broken homes.  It is sad but true. It is our privilege and blessing to be able to pour into the lives of each and every team member that God gives us.  We have the opportunity to share His love, mercy, and grace only found through Jesus. Many of the kids who come through our program each year are very receptive and happily apply the things we try to teach them, and for this we rejoice with Jesus and the angels in Heaven. It gives us great reward and much happiness each year when we see the fruit of our labors for the Lord in the spiritual changes and maturity that usually happens on a Teen Missions team. We thank all of you who faithfully pray for us and sacrificially give of your finances that allow us to keep doing this year round. We appreciate you so very much and we thank God for each and every one of you. “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:9-10).

Our Exciting summer!

Sharing Jesus at the fairs

We had quite an exciting summer leading the teen team to Indiana. Our team partnered with TTT Christian Youth Ministries doing evangelism and giving out ice water at the county fairs in Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois. We traveled to 14 county fairs and did surveys with 1,801 people plus many people that we talked with and witnessed to. We rejoice to share with you that God gave us 181 decisions for Christ! If the angels in Heaven rejoice over one sinner coming to Christ, then there must have been quite a heavenly party going on up there! Our team of nine teenagers, six Bible students (BMW students from Teen Missions in Florida) and a few people from TTT did an amazing job of sharing Jesus with all who would listen. The fairgoers were physically and spiritually refreshed as well. Our team did an outstanding job! Go Jesus! It was really rewarding seeing the changes and spiritual maturity that some team members showed as different circumstances came up. We went on a few rides here and there and enjoyed some fair food, but the focus remained on evangelizing the lost and encouraging them in their journey of faith.

Camel riding time!

We had a few fun sightseeing days and went to the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter which was quite an incredible, inspiring, faith building experience! We also had a lot of fun going to Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana, which is a theme park and water park in one! Redika also enjoyed her first experiences evangelizing at county fairs. This summer was a great time of spiritual growth for all, but was not without challenges, difficulties, and spiritual warfare as Satan was not happy with the abundance of spiritual fruit we were blessed to harvest from God’s harvest fields which were ripe for harvesting! As the days grow darker our light shines brighter and brighter!

Pizza time!

Samuel had a great trip to Adairsville, Georgia in late August and shared in the Adairsville Baptist Church about TMI and the work that we have done in Indonesia and Cambodia for the last three and a half years. Pastor Eric and the church members were so welcoming and kind. Our dear friends the Brunsons and their parents were so friendly and hospitable as well. It was a refreshing, wonderful experience and we hope to go back there and share again before next summer.

Hurricane Irma

We rejoice that Hurricane Irma did not hit our area nearly as hard as it could have. Our TMI staff mobile homes did not suffer very much damage and the TMI offices did not have any flooding, though the Boot Camp store (with concrete floor) and the leader bathroom with tiled floors and walls) did flood. Most of the staff and students spent a week picking up many loads of palm branches and cleaning up from the storm. We all worked hard and many hands made the mountain of work fun and easier.

Partnering with us

We are continuing to raise our monthly financial support and are at 60% of being fully funded. We currently have $850/month plus one time gifts that sometimes come in. Our goal is to raise $1,550 per month in financial support. If 14 more people were led to support us at $50 a month we would be fully funded and be able to cover all of our monthly expenses. Every gift of any amount is greatly appreciated and it makes a big difference. Even if many of you partner with us at $5 or $10 a month that would definitely be a great help to us. One time gifts, like year-end giving, and Giving Tuesday (November 28th) greatly help us as well. Please pray and ask the Lord if He would lead you to become a part of the exciting things that He is doing in and through us. Our goal is to be fully funded by the end of January 2018. We will be in the California area from December 16-31 this year and would love to visit with you as much as possible. All donations given anytime are tax deductible and should be made out to Teen Missions and our name not on the check. Please include a note that it is for the support of Samuel and Redika McCracken. Donations can also be securely made online at and click the Donate Tab.

May God strengthen you for your mission today and every day and enable you to reach out to everyone in your sphere of influence. “May the joy of the Lord be your strength,” Nehemiah 8:10
