Dominica Hurricane Relief

Dominica— Caribbean

Dates: June 16 – August 3, 2018

Teen Missions Trip (ages 13-19)

Work & Evangelism Team

Help rebuild lives and restore hope after the hurricanes on one of the most devastated islands in the Caribbean Sea.

Travel: After completing training at the Lord’s Boot Camp, you will bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to Miami and then across the Straits of Florida and Cuba before arriving at the Hewanorra International Airport on St. Lucia. A two-hour bus ride, along the Caribbean Sea, takes you to Castries, where you will overnight. The following day you will take the inter-island ferry from Castries to Roseau, Dominica.

Ministry: Your main project will be to help churches and communities clean up the remaining debris around their property and to rebuild after two devastating hurricanes passed over the island in September. Your team will enjoy meeting with the children at weekly Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs and have the opportunity to impact them for eternity by sharing the Gospel through songs, puppets and testimonies.

Adventure: You will visit the Morne Trois Pitons National Park and hike to the Emerald Pool. Enjoy shopping in the market for souvenirs such as baskets, straw hats, wood carving and oil paintings to remind you of your summer.

Project Expense: $3290 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee

Please note that the projects have been chosen up to a year before they are published. Therefore, projects can change, even at the last minute. Please come with a servant’s heart and be eager to do whatever the mission has a need for, regardless of what was specified. We have been invited back to many places because of our willingness to do whatever is needed. ALL teams are work teams in addition to the project listed. Teams are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Summer Experience

"I have learned so many work skills that I think will help me later in life.  I have heard so many stories and lessons.  My heart is open because of them.  I feel like I am closer to God every day.  This is the best summer of my life because I am serving other people.  I have learned that when you serve other people in God’s name, it not only makes others happy, it makes you happy too.”

Boot Camp Experience

“In just four days God has reminded me of so much.  Before I came to Boot Camp, I was seriously struggling to stand up for Christ.  Being a teenager means a lot of peer pressure and a mindset that you know what’s best.  But Boot Camp has reminded me, that I am not alone in the fight; and that in fact I truly do not know what’s best.  So in four days, Boot Camp has encouraged me to surrender it all to Him and that in the end praising Him in all we do should be our greatest joy.”
