Dates: June 16 – August 3, 2018
Teen Missions Trip (ages 13-19)
Work & Evangelism
Journey to the world’s poorest country, Malawi, Africa, to take the message of hope—Jesus Christ.
Travel: Following Commissioning you will bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to Washington D.C., with a connecting flight across the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. From there you will fly to Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, where your team will then make the two-hour drive to the Teen Missions in Malawi Bible, Missionary & Work Training Center in Chipoka, located on the shores of Lake Malawi. After an overnight stay, the team will pack up needed supplies and then head out to the remote village to begin your ministry.
Ministry: You will receive training at Boot Camp on how to operate a drilling rig like the one you will be using in Malawi. Blessings will abound as you have daily opportunities to share the Gospel using puppets, songs, Bible stories and games to the hundreds of curious children and adults who will gather to watch the team drilling for water. You may never know how many seeds will be planted as you share the Good News in this village. Once the well is complete, you will improve agriculture in remote villages by helping to install drip irrigation systems and building chicken houses.
Adventure: A trip to Africa would not be complete without an overnight safari to Liwonde National Park. You will have the chance to see elephants, buffalo, hippos and many types of antelope. Have fun shopping for drums, wood carvings, and African textiles. You will forever leave a part of your heart behind in Malawi, known as the “Warm Heart of Africa”. This team returns to Ethiopia to Debrief with two other teams. After Debrief, your team terminates at the Washington Dulles International Airport.
Project Expense: $4890 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee
Please note that the projects have been chosen up to a year before they are published. Therefore, projects can change, even at the last minute. Please come with a servant’s heart and be eager to do whatever the mission has a need for, regardless of what was specified. We have been invited back to many places because of our willingness to do whatever is needed. ALL teams are work teams in addition to the project listed. Teams are filled on a first come, first served basis.
“I am learning so much this summer. I just love everything about Malawi. The weather is awesome along with the landscape, the people, my team and the leaders. I have learned how to adapt to a new environment even when missing my family. I think it’s crazy how the Malawians are all so happy but have so little. They have no shame at church and all sing their hearts out. So, in a nutshell, I LOVE Africa.”

“Coming to Malawi has opened my eyes to a lot of things the Lord has been doing. Since I’m staying for a year, it’s hard not to focus on my worries, but I’ve been given peace over the situation. It’s awesome to be here with the kids and to play games, but it can be difficult with the cultural and language barrier. I’m looking forward to building relationships and exploring what Christ has planned. He has been a refuge for me during my troubles and I’m learning to rely on Him more and more. Seeing the brutal hardships of the Malawians has taught me to cherish what I have waiting for me back at home and the Gospel message of Christ.”

“It’s so incredible to see all the kids who have literally next to nothing, but yet have so much joy. They are constantly playing and having fun despite having to use a ball of trash as a soccer ball and few having shoes on their feet. They are a constant reminder that you don’t have to have any material things to be a light for Christ and to have joy in your life.”
