Teen Missions Trip (ages 13-19)
Work & Evangelism Team
Take a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, located between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.
Travel: After Commissioning you will bus to the Orlando International Airport for a flight to the Miami International Airport then catch a connecting flight that will take you to the city of Merida, which is in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula. From there you will bus two hours to Camp Porvenir.
Ministry: Your project site is located on a three-mile stretch of beach along the Gulf Coast. You will be cleaning up the camp, repairing damaged buildings and demolishing irreparable buildings that have been damaged by hurricanes and earthquakes that have hit the area.
Adventure: While in the Yucatan, the team will be able to visit many interesting places such as Chichen Itza, the famous Mayan-Toltec metropolis. You will have a chance to swim in the Gulf of Mexico and in one of the many cenotes (underground rivers) in this peninsula where no rivers exist above ground plus also experience the wonderful food typical of the Yucatan.
Project Expense: $3090 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee
Please note that the projects have been chosen up to a year before they are published. Therefore, projects can change, even at the last minute. Please come with a servant’s heart and be eager to do whatever the mission has the need for, regardless of what was specified. We have been invited back to many places because of our willingness to do whatever is needed. ALL teams are work teams in addition to the project listed. Teams are filled on a first come, first served basis.
"I am learning to appreciate the little things that I usually take for granted; such as clean clothes, showers, family and a house. Many people here aren’t as fortunate as me. Even though there’s a language barrier, the Honduran people still always smile at me and wave. I am learning to serve others, which includes my teammates. Everyone is doing well. We’re all definitely not used to horses, dogs, chickens, and crabs roaming our yard!"
"I have learned so many work skills that I think will help me later in life. I have heard so many stories and lessons. My heart is open because of them. I feel like I am closer to God every day. This is the best summer of my life because I am serving other people. I have learned that when you serve other people in God’s name, it not only makes others happy, it makes you happy too.”
“Peru has been a wonderful experience for me because it shows me how you can have very little but be really happy. It is very beautiful here and the people are very kind it has been fun to go to the orphanage and play with the children. Making them smile by showing them Jesus has been very rewarding. The boat ride on the lake was really fun.”
