Teen Missions Trip (ages 13-19)

Work & Evangelism Team

Serve like Jesus as you wash the feet of AIDS orphans in the breathtaking country of Zimbabwe!

Travel: After Commissioning you will bus to the Miami International Airport for a flight across the Atlantic Ocean and Europe to Istanbul, the capital of Turkey. You take a connecting flight across the African continent from north to south, crossing the Sahara Desert, the Equator and the Rift Valley before arriving in Johannesburg, South Africa. You then bus one hour north to the Teen Missions in South Africa Bible, Missionary & Work (BMW) Training Center in Pyramid, a suburb of South Africa’s capital, where you will overnight. You then bus one day through the African bush to the Teen Missions in Zimbabwe BMW located near Gwanda, Zimbabwe.

Ministry: Your ministry will be to wash the feet of AIDS orphans and give them a pair of shoes and socks. In some cases, it may be the only pair of shoes they have ever owned. You will receive basic first-aid training to assist the staff in treating those who come for help. There will be opportunities to share the Gospel through puppets, music and dramas. When the team is at the base, you will be involved with the BMW students’ ministries and work projects.

Adventure: A trip is planned to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, discovered in 1855 by early missionary and explorer David Livingstone. Enjoy a breathtaking view of these beautiful waterfalls known as the “Smoke that Thunders”. You will have opportunities to purchase different kinds of native handiwork such as wood carvings, baskets, textile work and drums as souvenirs of your summer.

Project Expense: $4590 U.S. plus $30 Registration Fee

Please note that the projects have been chosen up to a year before they are published. Therefore, projects can change, even at the last minute. Please come with a servant’s heart and be eager to do whatever the mission has a need for, regardless of what was specified. We have been invited back to many places because of our willingness to do whatever is needed. ALL teams are work teams in addition to the project listed. Teams are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Zimbabwe Evangelism

“Friday was our first day out on the field, and it was amazing to finally do what we came to do! We ministered to around 300 people (200 of those kids) through songs, a drama, a lesson, games, and handing out glasses! Many people came to Christ, and it was such a powerful reminder of why we’re here!  God has been doing powerful things through our team, and it has been a blessing to watch us grow together. We are here for one reason, with one purpose, and for one love, and we’re excited to share Jesus with everyone we meet! I know that for me, God has pressed upon my heart the sense of urgency that we should have for the people around us. We can’t take for granted the days we are given, and it is my prayer that the fire in my heart would never burn out and that it would be the catalyst of a never-ending movement for Jesus. I’m excited to see the work of God through us for the Zimbabwe people and the people we minister to at home!”

“I can’t believe our time here is coming to an end. I’m going to miss it here so much! I’ve loved being able to set up eyeglass clinics, the looks on people’s faces when they are able to see clearly is priceless, it makes my heart so full. I’m going to miss all of these amazing people and the beauty of their wonderful country.”

Zimbabwe Highlights

"Life has been pretty fun here, with lots of eyeglass clinics and miracles performed right before our eyes.  We have seen countless blind people see, and vision improved greatly through prayer.  Our team has bonded really well and been able to make our outreach that much more successful.  The food has been super yummy, and we all feel that it improves with each meal.  We have also all enjoyed being “unplugged” for the summer and really focused on our relationships with the Lord.  I personally have been able to deepen my relationship with Christ and learn countless things about Him and His plan for me.  I am excited to continue our ministry here, and even take it back home to all of my friends and family."
