Oscar & Maureen Chama Newsletter (Spring 2018)

Greetings from Zambia in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We thank God for allowing us this opportunity to share what God is doing through your support and prayers. This is the first newsletter in the year 2018 and the first since our last trip to the USA. We will bring you up to speed on what has been going in our lives and ministry.

Upon returning from the USA, we had two weeks to get ready for the two Lord’s Boot Camps which are a 10-hour drive from one location to the other. The first camp was in Mansa, and we had over a hundred participants in it. The program involves 12 days of training, 14 days of project time and two days of Debrief. We had over hundred children in the two Boot Camps we were coordinating. We had over 400 people pray to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. A  good number of the kids who were in Boot Camp also gave their lives to Christ for the very first time, while others rededicated their lives to the Lord.

We thank God for the director of Teen Missions and the Governing Board for approving a second Bible school in Zambia.

Our Bible school is free for the students who come to it for the purpose of being equipped for the Lord’s service. This second Bible school is in Luapula province, north of the copper belt where we have the first one. I have been involved in building the classroom and dormitories for the students who will be enrolled this April, God willing. We have eight who have already reported and three more will be coming by April. The work on the construction of this school is so far 80% done, and we hope to complete it the second week of April 2018. We ask for your prayers for this Bible school that God would provide all that is needed for us to train the laborers for the service of our God.

We continue to help the orphans and the needy. Last year Teen Missions sent a container of clothes and shoes to Zambia. What a blessing this has been to the kids who have so little! The orphans in many rural areas where we work have only the clothes they have on them, and when you see them you will know by how dirty it is, because it has been on them from the
day it was given to them. When a kid receives a pair of shoes and clothes the smile and joy is there for all to see. We know
they are grateful for your support that allows us to help them.  We continue to support them with education, medical treatment, books, pencils, pens, shoes, uniforms, socks and school fees. Spiritually we are sharing Christ to them through our monthly camps and day-to-day interaction. We are grateful for your prayer and financial support.

We ask for your prayers as we start our orphan Lord’s Boot Camp from April 20 to May 19, 2018. We are going to have over 100 young people in camp. Pray for: salvation that
many would come to
know the Lord personally;  spiritual growth for everyone in camp; safety on the roads; and for wisdom for me (Oscar) as I lead this Boot Camp.

This year I have spent most of my time away from my family due to the work I’m overseeing in Luapula province. I’m setting up a Rescue Unit in Lake Mweru area. So far land has been offered to us and we will begin building it after the Lufwanyama Boot Camp. Plans are that after July I we will be building the Rescue Unit and 14 Motorcycle Sunday School Mission shelters. We ask for your continued prayers.

Last year when we came to the US we wanted to raise the funds to give us $250 a month in support. We were able to raise 1/3 of that amount so we ask you to prayerfully consider helping us. Our hearts desire is to serve the Lord as long as we can through helping others and bringing the Light of our Lord to the hearts of people.

The girls are doing great and are growing fast.

Chimwemwe is now doing sixth grade and Tehillah is doing grade ten this year and she is at the boarding school. Pray that the Lord would help her adjust to life away from home. The girls have been working hard and are improving all the time. Comfort continues in reception class and is due for first grade next year. Oscar Jr. is our youngest child and he is 17 months old and is growing fast. He is running around and learning new words. Our girls require  $900 every year to be in school. This year we are in need of  the funds to keep our three girls in school or the school will ask them not to attend classes until the fees are paid.  We continue to trust the Lord for this provision

We want to thank you all for your support and may the good Lord richly bless you and your families. Because of your support we continue to serve. God is using your support to help us reach the lost. We thank God for you.

In Christ Service The Chamas
