Amanda Evans Newsletter (Spring 2018)

Dear Family and Friends,

Greetings from hot Florida! Summer is coming! Big Tops are up and tents sites are getting cleared. A lot of work is getting done thanks to a lot of volunteers helping us. It’s starting to look like Boot Camp. May 5th is our fourth annual Mud Run and we have over 500 registered. The money raised from this event goes to Africa to help the orphans. It’s exciting and a lot of work, but it’s worth it. It’s also fun to watch everyone get all muddy as they run through the obstacles on the course.

As of this writing, I’m still going on the Honduras Boat team, and I’m really excited. Yes, things could change, so we are always flexible. I have something exciting to share with you. A week or so after I sent out my last newsletter letting you know I was going to Honduras, I felt that I couldn’t raise the money so I asked to change teams. I moved to the Forest Angels preteen team; but a month later I was told almost $900 had been raised for my team.  So I realized right away that God wanted me to go, and He will provide the funds. I’m so excited I get to go to Honduras. We will fly into San Pedro Sula and then will bus two hours south to the Teen Missions Bible, Missionary & Work (BMW) Training Center near the town of San Isidro. We will bus to the coast, traveling through palm oil plantations, along sandy beaches, and across multiple rivers on rafts, before completing our journey by motorized canoe to our project site in Cocobila. For our ministry we will share the love and hope of Jesus Christ through puppets, music and games as the team plays with the kids. When we are not on the boat, the team will be working at the new BMW that Teen Missions is opening in La Mosquitia. For the second half of our summer, we will return to the main base near Santa Cruz de Yojoa. There we will help to continue paving a roadway so the vehicles don’t get stuck in the mud on their way up to the base. We will also have evangelism opportunities in nearby parks, soccer fields and at bilingual schools.

Now down to business.  For my fall deputation time, I will be going on a road trip to share at churches and in homes. I will be available from August 19 through September 9. I already have one church lined up in Forest, OH to speak at on September 2nd. I’m trying to get more places to share about my ministry with Teen Missions. If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in having me share at church or with a small group in your home, please contact me by the end of May or the first week of June. I would also be excited to visit with you over a cup of coffee or a meal along the way.

Thank you for your support through prayers and finances. You are a blessing to me! I still need to raise $300 for my team, so if you would like to help please fill out the coupon below and say it’s for my summer team.

Lord Bless,

Amanda Evans
