Greetings from chilly South Africa!

We were on the first bus out of Boot Camp and enjoyed pizza, drinks and muchies compliments of our awesome parents. Thank you so much! It was a fun way to celebrate commissioning. We arrived in Miami around 12:30 – 1:00 am and checked into some nice hotel rooms provided by another team parent. It was so good to be able to get a good sleep, showers and breakfast before heading to the airport. We spent the day at Miami airport and boarded our first flight to Istanbul around 9:30 pm. After 11 hours in the air, we landed and were taken through busy rush hour traffic to another hotel provided by Turkish Airlines. This stay was only a few hours, but we napped and got clean before heading back to the airport for the 10 hour flight to Johannesburg. Abby Z. was able to share the Lord with one of the passengers on that flight, but I’ll let her share about that later 🙂  We had one bag missing (team luggage), but other than that all went smoothly upon arrival. Jason Shrock, our missionary, met us and we bused about one hour to the Teen Missions base. We unpacked and settled into our rooms. The base is nice with bunks in the rooms, showers and a large kitchen. It was close to freezing last night (about 33 degrees) so we were all bundled up to stay warm. Some of us are getting additional blankets today! The team is doing laundry this morning and getting organized. We are also getting ready for our work project on the Tabernacle and evangelistic outreaches. There are four national Bible School students at the base so we’re looking forward to getting to know them. We’re also looking forward to having a fire tonight for team devotions!

Here’s a quick update from two of the team members:

Abigail D. We are in South Africa! Considering it is only the 1st day we have not done much, but one thing I can say is IT IS COLD! Our team is doing great! Today after devos one of the girls on our team shared this verse and I thought it was really cool! Proverbs 21:30 “The horse is prepared for the day of the battle, but victory belongs to the Lord.” God’s plan will prevail and no matter how good we think our plan is, God’s is greater!  P.S. Hi Mom!

Faith P. Hello people, We made it to South Africa! We have only been here one day, and so far we’ve slept, had hot chocolate (which was great cause it’s freezing!) and we had devo’s and then laundry. I thought I would share a verse that I read this morning. Psalm 55:22 says “Cast your burden upon the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” I know that this verse is pretty common but I thought it was cool that God gave me this verse now because I know that God will do awesome things this summer! till next time,
