What an exciting few days here in this paradise. All of the blocks have been laid for the dormitory!!!! The steel has been tied for the cap beams and the trusses are ready. We were waiting on wood for the forms which arrived AFTER everyone had showered. So we will start on the forms tomorrow in preparation for pouring the cap beams. A lot of painting has also been going on. We have also been painting buildings, benches and tables. This team is not afraid to work.
Thursday the team visited a local orphanage where they shared some songs, puppets and played with the kids. They all enjoyed it!
We went to the same church today that we attended last Sunday. The team did a couple of songs, Naomi did a great job of playing the violin for “Be Thou My Vision”, Conner did a testimony and the team did a drama. All was well received. There was also a small group from New Zealand that also did a couple of songs. Afterwards, the team raided the grocery store for snacks and then came home and consumed 14 packages of Kraft Mac and Cheese!
The highlight of the day is our evening devotions. We begin with a couple of songs. Oscar, Chicas or Grace play the guitar. The team members have been really opening up and sharing their hearts. We end every evening singing the Doxology (almost everyone knows it now!).
We plan on working all week. Friday night we will be going back to the church to spend time with the youth group.
Again, thank you for sharing your children with us. Keep praying that everyone will finish strong and not start “counting the days”.
Borden – Hi Mom and Dad! Fiji is still awesome! The building is going up fast and everyone is doing great. Thank you for all of your prayers everyone. I love and miss you Mom and Dad!
Chicas – The time here in Fiji has been very nice. We have been doing lots of fun work and stuff. I continue to learn new things about God every day. Thank you for all your prayers!
Timothy – Hello friends! Fiji has been a blast! The project is going very well and the team is doing a great job. Please continue to pray for safety as we work on the dorm and other projects. Thank you so much for your prayers!
Naomi – It’s been pretty much two weeks in Fiji and who would have thought the strangers I met four weeks ago would become the closest people ever! From building the dorm, painting and doing presentations for the local church and orphanage, I have learnt so much as well as learning more about the Lord! I am so thankful for the incredible time I am having and the experiences God is giving me!
Caleb – We have completed block laying, the weather is still holding up with a bit of light rain. We have done three presentations. The team is still getting along really well and we are becoming closer. God has been so good to us!
