Ecuador Teen team pouring concrete

We are halfway done with pouring concrete for this building! Yesterday our team worked for over four hours on a big slab that put us over the halfway mark. We are also making great progress on the block laying. The blocks we are laying are creating a small apartment and kitchen, and it’s so fun to see it come together! We are getting ready to prepare the septic tank pit for forms and concrete too, and we hope to start pouring for that project this coming week. We will also be pouring concrete inside the walls of the apartment we’re laying block for.
We are enjoying studying James together as a team! Last night Miss Leah taught The second half of James chapter 2, with the parallel passage of Romans 4. We are learning a lot and having a great time studying this book together. We are also enjoying GG (Grubby to Grace for girls and God’s Gentlemen for guys) several times a week. We talked about identity with the girls a couple nights ago, and Kristen said, “wow, this wasn’t what I was expecting at all. Thank you so much!”
Tonight (Thursday), the Ecuadorian lady leaders are making us a traditional Ecuadorian meal of fish and tomato-onion salad, and we are contributing our very American dessert of snickerdoodle cookies. We are excited to eat “real legit Ecuador food,” as Luke called it!
We are about halfway through our time here, and while we LOVE Ecuador, the homesickness is definitely hitting everyone. Please pray for us to be fully present and to receive all the joy that Jesus has for us here!
