Dear Family & Friends,
Season of Change
In October, the TMI board elected new officers. Richard Barber is now serving as President and Director of the ministry, Larry Wadman as Vice-President, Marva Peck as Treasurer, and myself as Secretary. We are grateful for the years of service of our founders as well as thousands of others who’ve joined with us here and around the world to see so much fruit over the years for God’s glory. Steve has been asked to serve with Mr. Barber as Assistant Director.
Teen Missions remains committed to the core principles that brought us together—a shared vision to disciple youth, and equip them for evangelism and mercy ministry around the world. We are steadfastly focused on continuing to run Boot Camp training, Bible schools and carry on the mission trip projects that have impacted thousands of the most needy with God’s Word. We have continued to direct and support our overseas bases and pray that the work in each country will grow into more unreached areas. Along with the changes have come many hardships and challenges. In many ways, it has been the hardest time we have experienced during our years of missionary service. The Lord has been faithful through each trial and we also can see that there has been a new spirit of grace, love and unity in the halls of our office. The staff, along with many volunteers, have been reorganizing each department, upgrading our training materials, and improving accountability and transparency in our finances and structure as a non-profit organization.
Steve made a trip to Canada at the end of November to explore the possibility of renovating our camp property and starting a Canadian Boot Camp by the summer of 2020. It was a blessing to see the staff, fellowship together and explore ways to involve more youth as we partner with the local churches in Canada. Steve was also able to visit our West Coast staff, Ryan & Erin Fast, as they led the annual Student ConneXion Conference in Portland, OR. George Verwer, founder of Operation Mobilization, was one of the keynote speakers. How awesome to witness dozens of youth groups from across Portland joining together to pray, worship and plan for ways to follow and obey the Great Commission. Steve is now teaching Genesis, Exodus & Leviticus in the new term at the Bible School. I continue to run the Petersen Academy in addition to my duties in the Personnel Department and as Secretary of the ministry.
Timothy & Faith Update
Timothy has worked hard during his junior year on the varsity basketball team and is already looking forward to the summer where he’s currently registered to serve as a member on the Canadian Leadership Development team. Faith just had her 14th birthday and now has her own phone… next year it will already be time to learn to drive! She is currently registered to serve on the summer team to Ecuador. (Her first solo trip on a different team than her parents).
We want to say thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support over the years.
Together in His Harvest,
Steve, Gay, Timothy & Faith Petersen
