The Honduras Preteen team has made it safely to the TMI Honduras base near Santa Cruz de Yajoa. Our flights went smoothly. We made it to our connecting flight to San Pedro Sula and met some TMI staff at the airport where there was a bus waiting for us. The team slept a lot on the planes, in particular Kaitlyn, who looked like a pretzel, so they were excited to load up on the bus! They started singing Boot Camp songs like ‘ Yesu ny Wongu’ and ‘I’m going up’. Christopher and Nikki really got into the songs. Christopher keeping the beat and Nikki picking songs. Jonathan and Joshua were singing at the top of their lungs. It was a fun ride to the base! Halfway through, I (Jessica), had the team reviewing their memory verses. Alyssa and Nala are doing very well with their memory verses. All the team was grateful for the commissioning food that was sent. Leah and Jonathan and Kaitlyn gave liberally to everyone. Rachel really enjoyed the Korean cream puffs! When we arrived at the base, the staff had prepared us a nice meal of rice and beans, fried plantains, and mango juice. Everyone ate it up. We are thankful to the staff for doing that! Then we enjoyed a nice night of no mosquitoes or frogs disturbing our sleep. When asked, “What is the first thing you noticed while driving in the bus?” Christopher replied, “They live a lot differently here. One time we stopped at an intersection and I saw someone’s house made out of tarp and wood.” We’re all excited to do bath and laundry time today and settle into our new role here in Honduras!
