The Canola fields around our camp are starting to turn yellow and we are beginning to enjoy the beauty of the prairies of Saskatchewan. Housing in Canada was not what we expected. Because of restrictions imposed by the city upon the camp, we have not been able to occupy the cabins on the camp grounds until we complete some major repairs on them. We have been blessed to all fit comfortably into the home that Teen Missions in Canada owns inside the city of Outlook. This has allowed our team to enjoy luxuries like air conditioning, hot showers and washing machines. It is our goal to get the cabins at the camp fixed up so that people can stay in them. We try to spend as much time as possible at the camp, we’re working eight hours a day down there, doing our Bible study on the property and having the occasional campfire for evening devotions.
This week the team has been working extra hard and are beginning to see the fruits of their labor. We wanted to give you a peak into what a typical day looks like for our team.
6:30 am – Rise & Shine; 7 am – Breakfast; 7:30 am – Devotions; 8 am – head down to the camp to begin working (right now we are installing the new floor in then Rally room, carry limbs & trees to the burn pile, digging out the dirt that is piled up agains the cabins and buildings)-everyone agrees that the Prayer Closet is one of their favorite things to do. They sit out on a bluff overlooking the Saskatoon River and pray for the other teams, their fellow team members and the Teen Missions’ ministries around the world. 12 pm – Lunch (on warm weather days the KP and our female leaders will bring lunch down to us at the camp where we enjoy the meal outside) 12:30 pm – James Bible study;1 pm – Work on job site;5 pm – Return to the house and clean up from the day;6 pm – Dinner/Free Time; 7 pm – GG’s (classes we do as just guys or girls); 8 pm – Library Reading Time/Evening Devos; 10 pm – Lights out
Tonight the team is hoping to sneak in a quick trip to the city pool to cool off after a long day working on the property. The team continues to work hard and are encouraged to continue to see progress being made in the Rally Room and are hoping to begin rebuilding the decks on some of the cabins.
Thank you for your prayers. Pray for our team this Saturday as we will be hosting a community youth event at the camp. We will be playing games, going to the community pool together and having a bonfire together. We will be sharing with the teens about Teen Missions. We’re praying that some of them may be lead to go on a team next year.
