Greetings from Honduras where we are doing pretty good. On weekdays, we have wake-up time at 6 am, and then at 6:30 we have library book reading. At 7 am they either wash clothes or work on memory verses – we are alternating with the Preteen team so that the laundry station is not overwhelmed! At 7:30 we have breakfast and then personal devotions after that. We begin working on our project at 9 am and work until 12:15 and then have lunch at 12:30. We work again from 1:30 until 3:30 when they have bath and free time. At 4:30 we do our daily Bible study together and at 5:30 we have dinner. Then there is free time again until the evening class. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we separate the girls and boys to have classes to learn how to be the man or woman that God wants us to be! Then we have evening devotions where each team member takes a turn leading the music and then sharing. So far, we have heard from Fanilo, Jasmine, Kaden, Greta, Abby, Santiago, Kayla, and Danielle. A few of the nights, we have even had time to play some games like Sharks and Minnows or Red Rover. This team loves playing games!
They have been working very hard on the work project. As of this writing, they have poured 110 feet of concrete for the driveway leading up to the base. One day, Chico promised a Coke for each person if they could get through four bags of cement in one morning – so they did it!
Also, Monday was a different day, because the team was invited to give their presentation at the high school near here. That was a good experience because they were mostly with kids their same age.
The weather has been pretty much the same – hot days and cools off at night. Some evenings there is a big storm, pouring down rain and strong winds.
Saturday, July 13, will be our last work day here at the Santa Cruz base. Sunday, we will go to church and Monday will be set aside for cleaning up and packing up. Tuesday morning we will leave early to travel to the base in La Mosquitia, so please remember to pray for safety that day! Thank you so much to those of you who are praying already, we are so grateful for your prayers!
