Yost, Bob & Paula

Meet the Yosts

Bob and Paula Yost both came from California to the staff of Teen Missions Int’l. at different times. Bob arrived in 1989 and brought Paula to Florida in 1990 as his new bride. Bob had been a forest ranger and Paula a dietician.

Bob growing up with a Presbyterian minister for a father had a significant impact in experiencing missionaries right in his own home. Whenever a missionary visited the church, they would have them over to the house. Bob learned to enjoy the excitement of mission work in his growing up years. This mission dedication led him into short term trips throughout the East Coast, Arizona and down into Mexico. Thus the transition into full time mission work seemed the natural route to pursue. During the 1980’s, Bob and his church body began praying where the Lord wanted him to serve. Bob talked to his work supervisor about his desire to go into full time missions. Being a godly man, Carl became one of Bob’s prayer partners. In July of 1985 the Lord led Bob away from the US Forest Service and into the mission field. There have been many bumps along the way as he received training, Bible classes and served at a Deaf ranch in Baja California, Mexico. But all along he knew that the Lord Jesus Christ was in full control.

Currently Bob Yost serves in the Literature Warehouse collating and packing literature for all of the Overseas and the U.S. Boot Camps. Paula serves in the Finance Department, which keeps her very busy. They also lead tours of the Old Testament Tabernacle. Bob enjoys singing Tenor in several area choirs and doing solo work; he also collects coins, bills and stamps. Paula enjoys sewing, reading, working in the yard and leading a women’s Bible study.

Prayer Requests

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

  • Yost, Bob & Paula Newsletter (Spring 2016) May 16, 2016 DSCN0068Dear Family and Friends, Lately, my Bible study group has been studying the minor prophets in the Old Testament. One of the comments last night was that each of the ones we’d gone through so far seemed to be saying similar things. Israel and/or Judah had turned away from God, often other people were sent to conquer them, or situations were tough. In every case God was patiently waiting for them to turn or return to Him. The realization that we ...
  • Yost, Bob & Paula Newsletter (Winter 2016) March 10, 2016 Bob and I are looking forward to renewing friendships with some of the Malawi staff -- Miscious and Stella pictured here with us.Dear Family and Friends,We trust that you enjoyed family and friends as we celebrated the birth of His Son recently. It is always such a busy time of the year with parties and programs that sometimes I think we lose sight of the true reason for the season. This year (and last!) Bob and I kept busy with a few Christmas parties, the local Christmas parade and of course, Bob sang in several different concerts. The first week or so ...
  • Yost, Bob & Paula Newsletter (Fall 2015) November 4, 2015 IMG_0911Dear Family and Friends,The Teen Missions year is starting once again. We are finishing up from this last summer and looking forward to what God has for us in the coming year. It is always an adventure when you open your eyes, your ears and your heart to what God has for you. This last summer, He took us to Ireland. We had a small team (12 team members) and only three leaders. We worked with Ireland Outreach in Dalkey, ...
  • Yost, Bob & Paula Newsletter (Spring 2015) June 5, 2015 IMG_0694Dear Family and Friends,Spring is here! That means that the summer and our upcoming team are not too far behind. Teen Missions has its seasons. Right now it’s the “Boot Camp is almost here!” season. While it is two months before the kids and leaders get here, there is a lot going on in preparation for that time. Big Top Tents are being set up. Often we have volunteer work groups that come and help us with that. As the ...
  • Yost, Bob & Paula Newsletter (Winter 2015) March 2, 2015 IMG_0561 February 2015                                                                                       Dear Family and Friends,  “Did you read the instructions?” was the oft-repeated question in the sewing class for the Bible school students this last term. It made me think of how often God says the very same ...
  • Yost, Bob & Paula Newsletter (Fall 2014) October 20, 2014 Melisa Foster Memorial Rescue UnitDear Family and Friends, In my mid-week Bible study, we are doing a study based on Eric Metaxas’ book on Dietrich Bonhoeffer. One of the things that Bonhoeffer struggled with was religion or “mere religion”—people who are not really obedient disciples, but merely going through the motions. It made me think of where I am in my walk with God. Am I going through motions or am I living and listening to God as I go through each day? James 1:22 ...
  • Yost, Bob & Paula Newsletter (Spring 2014) May 13, 2014 IMG_8905 Dear Family and Friends, It’s spring! It seemed like it was a long time coming this year, or maybe I’m the one who is just recognizing it. I planted zinnias the other day and then we had rain—very helpful when God decides to water the plants. I check them every morning and the plants look like they are smiling the way they stand up straight and put forth their flowers. Isn’t that the way God is? He plants us in the place ...
  • Yost, Bob & Paula Newsletter (Winter 2014) March 25, 2014 2010_Peanut-Classes_044Dear Family and Friends,  Do you believe that it is 2014? I wasn’t done with 2013 yet! Where does the time go? Bob and I had a relaxing holiday time, enjoying Christmas activities and working on household projects. We even had our stint of cold from the polar vortex in January—with lows in the 30’s. That is cold for us as we’ve acclimatized to the warmer Florida weather over the years we’ve been here. Speaking of years, it is hard to believe ...
