Serving the Lord with Teen Missions in South Africa
Meet The Mashongoane
Lorraine was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. She got saved at the age of 9 at a local Bible camp her parents sent her to and has followed the Lord ever since. At age 18 she started attending church regularly for the first time and became a member of a local Baptist church and soon went on to be a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. Throughout that time she also received a diploma in Early Childhood Education from Confederation College in Thunder Bay.
At age 19, in 2010 Lorraine went on her first missions trip, which was to Uganda with Teen Missions. She knew the Lord might call her to missions which is why she decided to go. During her time there God laid a burden on her heart to pursue full-time, overseas missions. The next summer she led a team to Tanzania and the following year came back as a One Year Volunteer to serve in Malawi and South Africa. During her time there she worked with AOSC (Aids Orphans and Street Children) as well as MSSM (Motorcycle Sunday School Mission). She enjoyed the ministry there and at the end of her year God had made it very clear that it was time to join staff with Teen Missions and that South Africa would be the right fit. It was in South Africa that we met Kgotso.
Kgotso started attending Boot Camp in South Africa with his brother and cousins when he was 13. He enjoyed going back for camp every December and has always been very good at the 40 memory verses required for teams. In January 2012 Kgotso joined BMW in South Africa after God caught a strong hold of his heart and led him to be in ministry. In March 2013 he met Lorraine, and despite his nerves could not let her leave South Africa without telling her he loved her. God’s plan started to unravel. While Lorraine was home in Canada raising support Kgotso was serving his BMW internship with MSSM. In October 2014 Lorraine joined staff, and in January 2015 Kgotso’s internship finished and he became staff in South Africa as well. They soon got married in South Africa and are now serving on the MSSM circuit in South Africa. They teach Bible lessons, phonics, do home visits and more.
